    1. This Garda Commissioner is a breath of fresh air.
Stands up for his men and does his best for the force.

Prosecute anyone giving them likes on social media …….and then allow employers to sack them

Very sad for the innocent people involved having critical injuries. Thankfully, all or most in the car going the wrong way died.

What else do you want to Commissioner to say in the immediate aftermath of a horrendous, tragic accident?

    5. The justice system has told these scumbags that if they want to evade the Gardaí, go the wrong way down the motorway. That’s what they’ve said. Now there are innocent people who are dead.

Finally, we have a comment made about crime by an expert in the field. Thank you so much!

Right, all fixed now, the Garda commissioner has condemned it as reckless.

That’ll be the end of it so.

    8. Referring every incident to Fiosrú is a joke. A police force should have a monopoly on violence and be able to use whatever means necessary to apprehend criminals.

It’s all part of this modern world where everything has a regulator, an ombudsman, an EY report or some independent commission sticking their oar in.

We need more police officers and more prisons. We need to recalibrate back to respecting the rights of the victims of crime over the rights of criminals.

    9. Strong “Make Crime Illegal” vibes from that.

I know they have to say something but hearing shit like this, after something so horrific happens is frustrating.

    10. The scum in the stolen BMW all died – too good for them. Really hoping the innocent family in the other car just heading to the airport all survive

Its not just prison people who get caught doing this need, its hard labour

    12. WHAT THE FUCK? FIFTH body now discovered according to the independent.

Must have been flung some distance.

Does it mean that reckless motorway will be banned? Or cars in general?

Gards get little cunts like this to court every day, and judges let them walk out with another suspended sentence.

The state spent millions on buying fields to build a prison in North Dublin 20+ years ago, and it’s still not even started.

This is a system wide problem.

He should be apologising and resigning for the Gardai not doing their job, a police force more concerned with protecting politicians from difficult questions than dealing with feral youths in stolen cars

    16. I agree that a lot of the recent accidents have been reckless. However the standard of driving in general on our motorways is deplorable. We have a huge problem with the standard of driving here.

Ah well, that’ll be it sorted now and we can all have a nice cuppa and relax.

Hey man, are you gonna find these guys? Or you know, got any promising leads?

Condemnation does fuck all. I condemn these cretins too but what does that do? What does that change? Micheal loves that word too. Action is needed. Not big words they won’t understand. These people are probably very limited in vocabulary as it is. You need to show them not tell them.

    20. The funerals for these little angles will be a site to behold. Also waiting for plenty of ‘best bed in heaven’ in the condolences on rip.

I would imagine if he said what he really thought it would be in line with most of the comments here.
Hound your local politicians, have mass demonstrations. It seems to be the only time legislation is changed is with mass public uproar.
Mandatory minimum sentences for driving the wrong way / driving stolen cars / taking chase’s something because what’s happening at the moment certainly isn’t working.
Put money into youth diversion projects and training gardai to pursue. Or better again have designated pursuit units like so many other European countries. Don’t piss it away on bike sheds
Judges are as a fault in this. I can only imagine how frustrating this is for gardai to deal with too.

Here is a question people need to ask themselves. How many chances do you get in your work? One chance and then gone ? Two? Three?

Would you ever get 100 hundred chances?

We need to cop on. The Justice system is not fit for purpose in the 21st century. It’s a milk machine for Law Firms and Solicitors. It can’t even keep a serial stalker away from a school.

Look at Japan and ask yourselves is that a system that would truly protect the masses.

    23. Side note, and I know all details are unconfirmed, and I hope that everyone in the Hyundai makes a full recovery quickly, but it just goes to show how much of a difference wearing a seatbelt makes.

I’m so sick of living in a country that let’s these shit heads constantly get away everything! Into court …out the same day
