It seem (perhaps ironically depending on your pov) that the gov has turned the new tariff ultimatum into an ultimatum of our own by saying they won’t sign any deal at all when they go into effect.
They’re likely trying to use the midterms as leverage. Trump is going to want the perception of a victory going in, and we might be able to exploit that
