FTC just sued Hims & Hers for sharing health details with Meta and snap despite privacy promises. They also charge right after intake forms no real consult and hide cancel buttons.
This shows telehealth firms still play fast with data and billing. As more health stuff moves online we need stronger checks or it gets worse quick.

We really need deep and fundamental reforms to our identity, privacy, and data retention laws, and enforcement with real and immediate teeth. Right now every point of data is sold and shipped around with such little control, it’s simultaneously easy enough to de-anonymize and track almost anyone, while also being incredibly difficult to reliability prove your identity online without potentially doxxing yourself forever. Couple this with outdated banking and tax laws that make transactions expensive and clunky, and the backwards IRS, and there’s a big core of how we operate in the legal and fiscal realms that needs a ground-up rethink, starting with replacing SSNs with public key encryption.
