Nur wenige militärische Ausrüstungsgegenstände sind für ihre Langlebigkeit bekannt wie das Fahrrad „Ordonnanzrad 05“. Es war fast ein Jahrhundert lang ein fester Bestandteil des militärischen und zivilen Lebens. Tatsächlich haben seine weitreichende Verwendung innerhalb und außerhalb des Militärs sowie seine legendäre Unzerstörbarkeit es zu einem Teil der DNA des Landes gemacht.

So many memories — and so many stories from my dad, who did his military service on this lump of steel.
He used to talk about the good times when you were granted a “Tenü-Erleichterung”, which basically meant you were allowed to roll your jacket sleeves up to your elbows.
And as for them being single-speed: my dad always said they actually had three gears — you could ride the bike, push it, or carry it. And apparently, you did plenty of all three.
