You can grow palm trees at the bottom of the South Island, not tropical varieties but we’ve got palms.

This could be true. I’d honestly never thought about it, but yeah: there are plenty of palm trees in Brisbane, but none in Melbourne.

So the middle of California is about tied with the farthest North that they grow. Over halfway up the coast and the whole Central Valley. Looks like the French Riviera is the only place as far North-on this map anyway.

I saw a couple stunted palms on the Isle of Wight.

They weren’t thriving, but they weren’t dead, either.

      Which is a Whole Mood.

Why doesn’t Mainland Italy have palm trees when Southern France, which is at a higher latitude does?

    10. Pretty sure a large part of the Sahara is notorious for have fewer trees than this image would suggest.

I always feel bad for the palm trees on Jeju Island, Korea. They try so hard to market that Island as the Hawaii of Korea.
