      Reuters sources say Iran could receive up to 400 Chinese-made portable air defense systems in a deal worth as much as $70 million. The first shipment is expected within weeks and is likely to be routed through Pakistan. Beijing and Islamabad are denying the report in official channels.

      This is interesting because it goes against normal Chinese ostrich policy.

      EDIT: If this is a sign that China is getting more involved in protecting its interests (in this case, oil), we are all in for some bad times.

      If true I think the real interesting part is Beijing openly supporting a partner no matter the political costs. A couple hundred manpads isn’t much. But it’s definitely an interesting sign.

      China isn’t selling anything they weren’t selling before. These are just some MANPADs, not some frontier missile capable of seriously threatening US forces.

      This is slippery slope if true. This was with Iran has been almost as big of a strategic blunder as Putin’s war in Ukraine.
