    1. 😂😂😂, sorry but that ship sailed. Japan only likes foreigners if they stay short term and spend a lot of money.

I just got kicked out of my new apartment for being a foreigner. They said I look scary

Too late. I literally feel that they enabled general public to be more brave with their xenophobia. Good job and thanks for ruining my hopes and plans of building a stable future in Japan!

    7. Well, you call them ‘foreigners for one. ☝️

They’re « Citizens of the World », derogatory cunt.

She said it but she does everything for us to think about that. It’s just like a female version of Trump.

    9. Former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe clearly said about Sanae Takaichi, „She is a habitual liar.“ Before the formation of the cabinet, he was pressed by her, „I have rheumatism and I don’t know if I will collapse at any moment, so please make me a minister,“ but after he made her a minister, she was very healthy.

      >政府の施策について「法やルールを守りながら居住している多くの外国人との秩序ある共生のためにも大切なことだ」とした上で、「外国人に対してフレンドリーでないというイメージ」を避けたい考えを示した。

      >Regarding government measures, it said, “It is important for orderly coexistence with the many foreigners living here while respecting laws and rules,” and expressed its desire to avoid the image of being unfriendly toward foreigners.

Now the Japanese government has an obviously unfriendly image.

They are obviously implying that they are ok with tourists, not with immigrants. Don’t have to read the article or tea leaves to get that.

This administration is very clearly opposed to long term residency/permanent residency, however, are perfectly fine and accepting of tourist cash and seasonal workers.

They just can’t understand why treating one group of people like pests might give the impression that they’re unfriendly to the other group.

“…even though we are clearly unfriendly towards foreigners.” Too late!

      This is a mistranslation.

What she said was “We DON’T want to avoid giving the impression that we are unfriendly to foreigners.”

      Common translation error./s

    15. Reddit needs a „laugh“ reaction exactly for this. Is she practicing for comedian career?

    16. What a joke. She is trying to make Japanese people focusing on foreigners issues rather than the current weak yen and economy situation they are facing now. I hardly see any news talking about how they are going to solve the weak yen and economy inflation.

Yeah too late for that! I was planning on starting up a business, but y’all just paywalled the absolute fuck out of it. Under the previous set of rules I could have gathered the capital needed. Now? Yeah forget about that.

    18. The best way to avoid giving that impression is to be friendly towards foreigners

honestly I’ve lost a good bit of interest in going to japan because of this, and that new income requirement for permanent residency is crazy. it’s fine I’ll just import my weird games and music or buy digital copies.

What a fucking liar. Her xenophobic nonsense is making life demonstrably worse for foreigners in Japan.

    23. Username928351 on

The problem wasn’t that they are unfriendly to foreigners, the problem was that they gave an impression that they are unfriendly to foreigners. Crystal clear.

    24. still-at-the-beach on

So she still wants to actually be unfriendly, just not have the impression of it.

So how to be unfriendly but people won’t realise its unfriendly.

    25. Giga_Code_Eater on

A little bit too late for that isn’t it? The current policies are extremely hostile to foreigners. Like it’s not even to them just wanting to keep out illegals, even the law abiding and people who want to assimilate to the culture are getting hit by the new policies.

I feel like they’re doing everything to tell foreigners to get out, without directly saying get out.
