eighteen. that’s the age when most people are figuring out college plans or learning to drive, not getting blown apart by a cruise missile. looking at this photo, he looks like he could be anyone’s kid.

the thing about these strikes on kyiv oblast is they hit apartment blocks and residential areas, not military targets. there’s no frontline justification for a missile hitting a teenager in his neighborhood. russia knows where these missiles land and they keep firing anyway.

every name matters. people post casualty numbers like statistics, but each one is a whole person with a family that just got permanently altered. dmitro had his whole life ahead of him, probably had plans for the fall, and now there’s just this photo and a date.

rest in peace to him. and for whatever it’s worth, the people documenting these victims are doing important work even when it feels thankless.
