Mostly the same for Troms og Finnmark Fylke. I was part of the process, and it felt completely wasted.

    2. A giant waste of time, effort and money. The merger should never have been forced on them, but when it was done, splitting it back up again was just about as silly.

I expect Viken and Troms & Finnmark are going to be two of the triggers for Fylkeskommuner to go the way of the Dodo in the not too distant future.

    3. Splitting back up was a good idea, almost everyone in Buskerudt that I’ve talked to about it agrees. Shouldn’t have been made to Viken.

      Heia decentralisation.

    4. There was a lot of weird stuff and all of 2019 spent on preparing for the merger, but at least the ICT systems still remains as an IKS in the form of https://frid-iks.no/. It’s dumb that every fylkeskommune in the country pretty much run the same monopoly software for all the services they provide.

Burde vært minst ti år karensår før man kunne reversere sånne ting.

Greit nok om man var i mot det fra start, men ufattelig mye sløsing (selv om sløsingen startet med dårlig forankring)

It felt completely bonkers, a single county from just east of Eidfjord all the way to Svinesund.

    7. Viken was very much stupid. Purely from the POV of the services of the fylkeskommune it might be not-too-stupid, but for everything else it is just beyond dumb.

If I tell you that I am a guy from Østfold you learn something about me. If I am a dude from „Viken“, it just means that I live around Oslo somewhere. „Østfold“ shows you something with regards to identity, „Viken“ just doesn’t. If northern Buskerud and Hvaler is the same region in Norway, then we can just do away with the fylker alltogether.

If Viken was contained to the fylkeskommune it might be OK, if we kept the regional names for everything else. But we didn’t, and then the fylke became a political decision to decide something bigger, in which there is an obvious answer.

If the rightwing wants to do a game of chicken, by seeing who will burn the most public money on the issue, than game on. And I will vote SP.

Viken looks like it was set up to be a retirement home for former ministers, to give them their own little fife to be important. It was way too big. 1.2 million people? Cmon.
