What about Kashi (varnasi) India. Or ayodhya, Mathura, vrindavan, and others in India? Aren’t they like more than 8000 years old

Are there any among these that have continued to exist as cities without interruption?
For example, I’ve heard that Athens was a small village during the Ottoman Empire.

I couldn’t work out what the capital city of Syria was the other day. My two Syrian friends were in the room, but I didn’t want to seem stupid and so refused to consult them.
After a while (and some poor guesses on my part) they started to get frustrated with me and just blurted out “Damn, ask us!” However, out of stubbornness I still refused to get the answer from them. So, unfortunately, I’ve still got no clue as to what the capital of Syria is.

Athens was famously abandoned by the Athenians and razed by the Persians in the mid-5th century BC. It has therefore not been „continuously inhabited“.

I’m partial to the European entries. Plovidiv and Athens have such gravitas. Not to detract from any of the others.
My hometown, Stara Zagora, is 90 km from Plovdiv. It has neolithic settlement dating back to 6000 BC as well but it became official town with Trajan, named after him (Augusta Traiana). So much younger as a significant settlement.
