Christopher Nolan scherzt, dass Matt Damon die Hauptrolle in „Die Odyssee“ bekommen hat, weil Leonardo DiCaprio, Christian Bale, Tom Hardy, Matthew McConaughey, Cillian Murphy, Hugh Jackman und Josh Brolin die Rolle alle abgegeben haben

“Joke…Yup, that totally didn’t happen, Matt”
Is a one line joke really worth an article? Is it worth posting about? This isn’t something that actually happened. Damon was listing a bunch of actors from his generation and Nolan made a joke.
I’d like to see the one where Bale got/took the role.
Same exact reason my hospital hired me!
I can see Tom hardy being good in the role
Brolin is an interesting pull here. He’s the only one who hasn’t been in a Nolan movie.
josh brolin would have been a solid choice for the post war odyssesius. although i am not sure how they would have portrayed a younger version of the character
There is a trend when you play the lead, Nolan doesn’t cast you anymore
I wonder how many roles Damon got because Leo passed.
somehow i feel that jimmy kimmel had something to do with this..
Some of these wouldn’t even make sense for the role. He’s obviously taking the piss.
Dang. High Jackman would’ve been incredible in that role.

Josh Brolin would have absolutely slapped in that role.
DiCaprio would have been an interesting choice
yeah i passed it as well…was too busy man. sorry.
Damon might not be as exciting as some of these names, but I’m sure glad he got picked over a couple of them
I was already pre-occupied with another role
Bale and Brolin could have been awesome.
Even John David Washington turned it down.
Wow, 8th in line. Well, it was still a great movie. Won’t see it again, though, because all of the screeching noises were really too much.
Kevin James would have been great. Pretty much the same character as Paul Blart and he nailed that.
I don’t even consider myself a big Matt Damon fan but for me this is easily his greatest acting performance.
Kimmel write that joke?
I was wondering why Cillian isn’t in it. Then I remember Oppenheimer.
I like Hardy, but damn, I don’t want that performance.
Matthew McConaughey would have been so interesting hahaha
I feel like Nolan wants to check all the major genre boxes. Would be cool to see him doing a classic western with someone like Brolin (even though Brolin probably feels like he’s done enough Westerns).
Apparently, so did Avery, that fuckin’ asshole.
Go Devils.
Bale would have absolutely awesome in this role.
yeah, a couple months ago
I watched the movie only cos matt Damon was in the movie
The typical order of offers then
Brolin would’ve killed it
Damn. Idk Damon sold it pretty well. He def my fav choice out of these.
Aw I wish we could have gotten Christian Bale!
Was Nolan being kind in not mentioning Affleck, or just forgetful?
Bale would have been legendary.
The joke is all these actors turned it down. We know any top list actor is gonna claw at the opportunity for a Nolan lead
Matt Damon was great in this but man Josh Brolin could have been a really interesting casting.
Say what you will, but I think Matt Damon was fantastic in The Odyssey.
All would have been better actors for the role honestly.
Matt Damon was without a doubt the weakest point of the movie, he is just playing himself and doesn’t bring the epic character of Odysseus to the screen.
Damon smoked the role…. but let’s be real…Bale or Jackman would’ve murdered the heck outta the role.
Nolan rewards actors who have been faithful and listen to him, and Damon seems to have done it for interstellar and Opp.
I’ve seen the joke and Josh Brolin wasn’t even mentioned. Damon is listing off a bunch of actors that Nolan has worked with in the past and says “JD” as in John David Washington. I’m pretty sure the author thought he said JB and then gave it their best guess at who he was talking about.
I dont know. Matt is one of my favorite actors and of the very few A-lister that blends into the character while carrying the movie.
He played a nuisanced Odysseus perfectly. Not the greek hero; but the man dealing with shit.
Unfortunately Nolans storytelling and editing prevented a proper build up and excitement in the movie.
Damn Brolin would have killed it.
