She was 29. That’s roughly the age of a lot of people I work with, people I see at the coffee shop on weekends. It’s strange how war makes you think about age differently, like 29 stops being just a number and becomes the whole story.
The worst part is how routine these attacks have become in the reporting. Another missile, another name, another family. But each one of those names was somebody’s whole world, and the news cycle just moves on to the next one without much pause.
I keep thinking about how she probably had plans for next week. Dinner with friends, maybe a project at work, something small and ordinary. And then a ballistic missile doesn’t care about any of that.
