Several people have been injured at a Berlin Pride event, police say, after reports that a vehicle drove into a crowd in the city centre.
An intensive manhunt is currently under way, police say, as they urged people to avoid the area.
The injured are being treated by emergency services near Tiergarten park, where the incident took place, police added.
The annual pride event, Christopher Street Day, has been cancelled.
„We believe that a vehicle entered the Tiergarten park and hit several people and injured them,“ police posted on social media.
Images show a large emergency services presence at the scene, with one person seen entering an ambulance on a stretcher.
It is not yet clear how many people have been injured in the incident.
A number of police officers as well as rescue units from the fire department have been deployed to the area.
Earlier on Saturday, huge crowds took part in a parade throughout the city, which ended near the park for a series of events in the evening.

So we’re responding to a homophobic attack by resorting to plain ol‘ racism in the comments I see.
And we wonder why conversatism/extreme right wing is on the rise.

I’ve seen this trying to be swayed already. Legit no news on it yet other than it’s happened.

Don’t know why everyone’s trying to guess the race of the perpetrator, as if thats the most important thing. You lot can push your agendas later.
I sincerely hope everyone makes it out alive. Sucks that one twat with a car key can do so much damage.

It is genuinely heartbreaking to see this attack on people like me being used to stir up sentiments against immigrants. We don’t even know anything about the suspect, what the fuck is wrong with people?

This is unfortunately not really correct. The incident actually happened on the sides of the actual event. Here is a translated version of the German news about this:
Berlin’s Christopher Street Day has been called off. According to the police, a vehicle drove into a crowd. One person has died and several others have been injured.
One person has been killed and 14 others injured, some seriously, in **an incident on the fringes** of Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Berlin. A van drove into a crowd at Tiergarten, a police spokesperson said. According to the police, the driver left the vehicle and fled the scene.
The police are conducting an intensive search for suspects and have deployed numerous officers to the scene, they said. Police officers were searching the area between Potsdamer Platz and the south side of the Tiergarten Tunnel, as reported by a reporter from the dpa news agency. They were looking for evidence. “We have a police operation underway,” said the spokesperson. “Please avoid the area and give it a wide berth,” the police advised.
Berlin’s Senator for Urban Development, Christian Gaebler, warned against speculation about the motive behind the incident. When asked whether there were any indications of a political or criminal motive, the SPD politician said that nothing could be said on the matter at present. It was also better not to speculate just yet. “**After all, it didn’t take place at the event itself, but actually in the Tiergarten.”** That was now making the situation rather unclear.

I was there last year and felt so happy and safe and seen by the community around me. I feel sick.

Have they not figured out that traffic stopping bollards are a must at these events yet?
It should be impossible to get a car near the crowds.
