I guess Lord Black isn’t getting invited to the good parties anymore.

I agree with the title of this article. That is it though.

For those that may be hitting a paywall on this, this is an opinion piece written by Conrad Black. He spends the first half of the article basically excusing his support and singing Trump’s praises. I’m not joking in the slightest:

Bush, who invaded Iraq and effectively handed pre-eminent influence in that country to Iran, and who greeted the collapse of the world economic system over Bill Clinton’s real estate bubble with the stirring tocsin: “The sucker could go down;” was followed by Obama’s pervasive subtle racism and appeasement of Iran, China, and Russia, and the almost uniform incompetence of Biden. **These three reduced the moral authority and objective strength of the United States to its lowest point since the isolationism and depression of Herbert Hoover 95 years ago.**

Fucking hilarious that he blames Bush, Clinton, Obama and Biden for what’s wrong with America. Not that there aren’t legitimate criticisms of all of them, but leaving Trump off this list is a choice. (He’s friends with Trump, so that’s why).

This is a gish galloping paragraph if I’ve ever seen one. Stating that the US is greatly strengthened under Trump, while basically handwaving what happened in Venezuela and what is still happening in Iran is also an interesting choice. He’s a convicted fraudster though, so I’m not surprised how this all comes so easily to him.

Personally, he is quite congenial**. To the extent that we become less dependent on trade with the United States, that is a healthy development conducive to our sovereignty. The United States must always be respected, and Canada must never consent to be treated with disrespect. We have no delusions of grandeur nor are we anyone’s doormat.

I’d be very surprised if Trump retires in 30 months. He’s already wearing a Trump 2028 hat, so if he’s not dead, he’s going to be running, 22nd amendment or not. And of COURSE Black thinks Trump is a swell guy.

People have mentioned that they are putting aside a special bottle for Trump. I’m going to put one aside for Black as well.
