      Sadly I just find it hard to care about any GOT project when the main series of books is unfinished and the original series turned into such a mess.

      tl;dr: It’s not what you think.

      A play – like a literal play on a live stage – had some previews canceled. And the actual run is still scheduled to debut on time. This is literally the least important news you will read today, unless you had tickets for a fucking preview showing at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon, in which case, sorry.

      I don’t think the full story of Robert’s Rebellion needs to be told in any medium, because the events have been discussed elsewhere in such exhaustive detail that a retelling would mostly be crossing off lines on a grocery list. (And given how scattered the details are, a full retelling would certainly introduce inconsistencies).

      The story of the Mad King is best left as a colorful backdrop that informs the present state of Westeros.

      But, if they *must* tell this story to milk the IP dry… why do it as a stage play? The whole appeal is in the visual spectacle. If they can’t show huge battle scenes or wildfire explosions, wouldn’t everyone be better off with basically any Shakespeare play that features a king?

      Man, this is such a shame about the books. I was there when the first one released, that was the only one I read…just couldn’t get into it. I’m glad I didn’t but man, I sure sympathize with everyone who’s been left hanging, that’s just not fun.

      This is a misleading headline. The first performances of a GOT stage play were cancelled, the play is still opening days later

      In my house, we have a total ban on any mention of Game of Thrones. Honestly I wish I never invested the time and thought into it that I did.

      I know that’s silly (and it’s just a joke it’s not like I’m serious about it) but most people I know won’t bring it up either. It’s too painful.

      I have a theory that Martin has finished the series, but after seeing the fan reaction to the end of the show, and how toxic a lot of fandoms have become over the past decade, he’s decided to not release the books until after he dies. That way he doesn’t have to deal with anything other than people complaining about the series being finished.

      Trust was broken, George’s projects are no longer something I care to patronize. He had 1 job, finish his book in time for the final season. He failed, and the show runners failed, and he has done nothing to make it right.

      I’m thankful that he creates such a cool universe but he needs to scrap the last two books and finish the series from book 3. I think he ruined the books once he got the TV deal for the OG series and needs to own it and recalibrate tons of stuff.

      But what an amazing universe he has given us.

      Idiotic headline. Plays often delay previews when they are having technical challenges to work through.

      Its sad what happened to the series in the end.

      I would love a season of just the long night spanning months multiple battles and ending at Kings Landing.

      Then in the Aftermath Dany loses a lot or something falls back to dragonstone and goes full mad queen against Cersei for a season.

      TBH I think GRR did finish the books and it was the exact same as how the TV show ended and after the negative backlash he had to rewrite the story backing himself into a corner…. Aka fucked
