I live on Staten Island; this has been the first time in over a decade that we all agree politically on something. Axon is next. There are more of these companies, and they will soon change their names and logos to confuse.
It’s amazing how politics and assumptions about people gets brought into everything. I would imagine most people aren’t interested getting spied on like this.
And municipalities are switching from Flock to Axon , which is not better (and Trump purchased $5m Axon stock earlier, so he is also happy about the move).
Good. This is the only thing I have seen in a while where the outrage crosses over to just about anyone.
Doesn’t matter if republican voters still vote republican. Republicans in power simply don’t care what their constituents want
From the people that I know on the right, they’re even more irritated about mass surveillance than the lefties I know. They tend to have a more libertarian leaning perspective, so they’re deeply being rubbed the wrong way.
I am skeptical of the broad claims that don’t seem to have any quantitative reference. The article has things like „libertarians view…“ without describing *how many* have that opinion, and where that information comes from.
Maybe Americans still believe in freedom just a little bit
The courts haven’t agreed with me yet… But I swear these are unconstitutional. Unreasonable search.
They make the argument there is no expectation of privacy in public…. But you better expect if someone is following me around with a camera all day, every day, I will call the police regarding harassment or get a restraining order.
These cameras act in the same way as stalkers following your every move.
I feel like they also violate right to peacefully assemble. I feel like with government tracking my every move my right to assemble and protest a dangerous government is threatened (doesn’t have to be this one, could be any government… So applies to Republicans if they want to protest President AOC).
Any government can quickly call up a list of everyone who protests and arrest them.
The founding fathers didn’t call out flock cameras but I feel like if they existed at the time, the spirit of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights would have denounced them. Flock cameras are a directly danger to our freedoms.
I’ve seen sooo many times that dangerous criminals were caught quickly because their crimes were caught on camera. I do NOT value privacy. MORE CAMERAS! MORE CAMERAS! CAMERAS EVERYWHERE!!!
Remember the movie Get Out! One of the main points of the movie is that Cameras protect us!
I showed what I wrote here to my daughter and she explained that the reason people are complaining about THESE cameras in particular, is that they’re not put up by police, and the people who put them up, sell the information they collect. This aids stalkers and hinders police because they won’t share the video with police unless they pay.
I told her that if I were a judge I’d be willing to subpoena, the video and send the cops to seize it. These people would never see a penny and they would be prosecuted for aiding stalkers.
I’d personally love to have the makers of these cameras sentenced to monitor the cameras for minimum wage for the rest of their life with the understanding that if they ever sell the information again they will go to prison.

Ive seen an interesting conspiracy about the proliferation of anti-flock social media posts. On platforms that usually censor violent/vandalism posts, they seem pretty ok with the Flock stuff. Cities are ditching Flock but just replacing them with a less known name called Axon (a company coincidentally Trump has purchased $5 million in stock in). They’re also not a tech bro company, but blackrock is a major owner instead.
The conspiracy is that theyre pushing anti-flock posts as a way to clear the field to allow Axon to move in.
Im not normally a conspiracy guy but this one felt like it has legs based on my experience with this sort of content online.
Left and right may disagree about tracking other groups of people, but they’re generally aligned on the government tracking themselves.
Inaccurate headline. „I don’t like Flock cameras“ is a politic. This is an opinion aside from politics, it is politics.
I know headline implies that „regardless of politics“ means „regardless of a Democratic or Republican“ but that’s not what that means.
Don’t worry, trump/epstein’s camera company Axom is replacing allllll the cameras people destroy! In fact it looks like a false flag operation, pretty sure those behind the movement are trumpers trying to get his cameras up instead of flock. great job everyone!
I don’t understand why people freak about this when everyone is using these cameras and systems inside their house, outside their house, self driving vehicles that are recording everything. Is it just a Reddit hot topic? I just want to understand.
Fun fact for kids: Flock cameras are piñatas filled with candy. Bring a baton and have yourselves a fun scavenger hunt but don’t get caught.

Americans don’t like corporations spying on them and documenting their every move. Not exactly surprising they don’t like flock cameras.
