**TL;DR**: EU’s 21st sanctions package (agreed 23 July 2026) hits Kulevi refinery in Georgia with a transaction ban, effective in 6 months. This is the newer refinery – separate from SOCAR’s terminal, which escaped sanctions earlier in the 20th package after pledges to block sanctioned vessels. Kulevi got targeted because a tanker (Kayseri) delivered 100k+ tons of Russian crude from Novorossiysk to this refinery, which is owned by people linked to the ruling Georgian Dream party; the Kayseri was later blacklisted as part of Russia’s shadow fleet. Broader package also freezes the Russian oil price cap for 12 months and sanctions ~94 Russian banks.
It’s such a shame and travesty that a small beautiful country like Georgia is being run and terrorized by the pro Russian government and their paid thugs, I love the country and the people, I love the beautiful stray dogs and cats to 🤣❤️❤️, with the right leadership Georgia could be like the next Switzerland almost, I just hope one day the military stands with you guys and overthrows that criminal tratorious regime, but I know some Georgians still support them which is such a disgrace and a shame, this American stands with all of you, because unfortunately my country is also being run by a fucking orange pro Russian pedophile, it’s a pure shitshow here…

„…*the aforementioned individuals supplied information to representatives of the Ukrainian state about Georgia’s oil product imports*…“ – this is from the official criminal charge sheet of opposition leaders, lmao. They are sending opposition leaders into jail (with sabotage charge btw, up to 15 years) because they exposed that Georgian Dream was helping Russia to dodge the EU sanctions.
Who needs gas… Who needs electricity… We’re gonna be the europeanest of all European countries, we’re gonna be walking everywhere like in the fucking Alps, enjoying the amazingly renovated Chavchavadze and Rustaveli. Hell, they’re so gorgeous that I’m gonna move out of an apartment and sleep on these beautiful streets even to never forget how much I’m in Europe.
I knew I would learn something joyful today! The funny part is (shameful) that the sanctions package is for ruZZia and we are mentioned there.

Hello from Armenia, I am obviously interested in what happens with Georgians. My questions are:
– was this government/ party always like this during their governance? Or was there some flip at some place in the timeline?
– Are they claiming to be balanced as to not anger Russia? If not how are they responding to criticism from the west and more importantly Georgian citizens?
