Finland was the first country in the world to give all women the right to vote and the right to run for office in 1906.
New Zealand had women’s suffrage but it wasn’t possible for women to stand for election until 1919. Australia, on the other hand, had racial policies that allowed only European descendant women to vote.

One thing I love the most about Finnish culture is our relative equality. The way hardship here has really meant all hands on deck, so misogyny never managed to become so entrenched as it is in many other countries. There’s also a sense of solidarity among the people beyond gender equality that this shows in, which has been somewhat wild to realise is far from the status quo elsewhere. Looking at class societies like the UK, for example. Any place with a more pronounced history of nobility vs. peasantry, really.
Looking at the map, I wonder if end of WW1 played a part in cultural changes on blue states.

Women’s suffrage feminist propaganda always forgets to put into perspective, when did men get the right to vote. For example in Finland men and women BOTH got the right to vote on the same exact day in 1906. But the propaganda makes it about oppressed women, whereas people over all were oppressed.
The WWI and WWII blocks are quite clear, though for many of these I have to wonder how much the right to vote mattered at the time, how much before or after did common men get to vote.
Also, somehow always connected words suffrage and suffering, with maybe hint of French and Latin words for plea or prayer mixed in. So „women’s suffrage“ was US movement, that I though was supposed to end the suffering, and that was counted as limited success when right to vote was given. Which made using that movement rather than end of the suffering or achieving voting rights as really weird coal post. Well apparently there is also Latin root word for casting ballot there, so its actually supposed to be a synonym for „right to vote“. Why do you do this English?
Why is the Netherlands red instead of blue, it isn’t keeping with its own legend..? Also why is there a teeny tiny piece of svalbar but no Iceland or greenland? Is this AI generated or just made by someone who seriously does not care??
