Ich bin ein Versorgungsarbeiter im DC-Gebiet. Nachdem ein Sturm einen Baum in der Nähe der Kettenbrücke, die DC mit Virginia verbindet, umgeworfen hatte, entdeckte ich eine Kiste, die an der aufgebrochenen Stange stand. Daran hingen zwei Kameras, die aus einem Fenster der Kiste geschaut hatten. Das Fenster war so getarnt, dass es wie ein Warnschild auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite des Kartons aussah. Das Stromkabel für diese Box wurde über den Mast und in den Kopf-LED-Teil einer Straßenlaterne verlegt und an den 120-V-Strom der Lampe angeschlossen, der nicht gemessen wird, sodass niemand dafür in Rechnung gestellt wird. Die Kameras waren auf die Straße gerichtet, die von VA kommt und zur Kettenbrücke führt, sowie auf die Straße, die nach links führt, wo viele Diplomaten leben (Ambassador Residences).
Hat das schon mal jemand gesehen?

Probably some company like Flock. I figured they would start concealing their cameras since people are destroying them.
That’s an odd mix of cobbled together and properly fabricated parts. I don’t think this was some individual, looks like government work to me.
Crazy but did you photograph your balls to annoy whoever reviews the footage?
Go look at the google street view for that location. You can see when it appears.
It wasn’t there in the google street view from October 2018 and appears in google street view September 2019

I’ve seen similar types of boxes for decades.
I know of someone who got busted about 20 years ago for selling weed, not long after one of these popped up across the street pointed at her front door.

I was in DC around the time Seth Rich was murdered and there’s no way in hell nothing got picked up by any cameras like they say. Not only is there shit like this, but every corner had a camera on it.

I’ve found one of these in Worcester,MA (Southgate St and Gardner St) a few years ago and reported it to the city who eventually came back and said it was authorized. It’s facing a private lot of businesses. Fuck the 4th amendment we’re in a totalitarian police state
Foreign intelligence agency and/or crime/blackmail gang do those sorts of stealth installs. Definitely not Flock. There’s a lot of those in sensitive areas if you know what to look for. Would not be surprised if there are millions across the nation, some been up for years.
Like others have said it could be for a sting. In my neighborhood there was a hells angels house being watched and they were eventually busted for something. Maybe it something like that?

It occurs to me that when an „organization“ (insert the 3 letters of you choice) sets up surreptitious surveillance, they’ve been known to use covers like a crew that is supposedly working on infrastructure – road work, sewer inspection, TV cable installation, or the like. Using such a cover for the short term would be useful, but the guy up the utility pole could easily be installing cameras or other tech to facilitate long term surveillance too. Unfortunately this thought gives more credence to those folks who are convinced that the 5G networks are a spying mechanism, only these cameras would be doing the spying, not the cell phone tech itself. Or it could be both. Great. Now I’ve just added one more item to my paranoia list. : (
There’s a website that keeps a running list of controllable cams all over. Some of them are labeled, most are not. Some of them are on intersections and run by the DEA. Fully controllable with crazy zoom. Some are inside people’s homes, facing their couches or front doors. Some are in yards. Some are in airfields or are DOT cams. I have seen some facing some really nice homes, usually facing the front door, with no label of who put up the cam. This post reminds me of those cams. Really creepy to think about. I now look out for these all of the time.

When I was a lineman we had the FBI/DEA contact us and we hung these on utility poles for them facing a drug dealers house one time. They got the evidence they needed and made a bust and called us 2 weeks later to meet them there so we could remove the camera and give it back to them. Felt shady as hell.
Is there a wired feed from the camera set up to the pole or is it wireless?
If they aren’t doing anything wrong then why the subterfuge?

from what I can tell, that’s a sierra wireless RX5xx type 4G router.
the cameras appear to be fully zoom-able lenses. Can’t identify the make/model. Their mounting is interesting – a large magnet on a plate, which sits just below the 4G antenna.
The power-supply is a 12v/10A converter, for a din-rail. the rail is behind it.
The assembly on the door is likely a fanless industrial PC.
Wide angle and telephoto lens. It’s aimed at the part of the bridge that get’s tagged/graffitied. Probably just put up by local police.

It is called a pole cam. When I worked in narcotics in the 2000s we used to have them put up. Ours we cylinder shaped and looked like electrical boxes.

not a conspiracy, i mentioned on another thread just around covid, i was part of a camera hacking group and we cracked into 100’s of these cameras placed in only black and latino neighbourhoods across america, my memory is a bit slack but i think we found the most cams in Newark which is a majority black neighbourhood, some infact pointed directly at people’s houses and all cameras were registered to the FBI, unfortunately the discord group we collected all the information was taken down so its not something new, apparently they have been doing this since before 2010
Are all these data centers just for the storage and processing of full western world surveilence and not actually AI?
I used to work for an electric utility too. We would occasionally work with the cops to install these. They usually didn’t stay up that long. They got removed and tagged as evidence once the surveillance was over.
