You only need to speak 1 language to survive in Luxembourg
Luxembourgers are always complaining that everyone in their country speaks French, but they don’t have the balls to force people to speak Luxembourgish.
Locals are not as bad as some people describe them, frankly all my interactions with them were very polite and gentle.
Public servants should be paid less. Mean salaries should match private sector.
We (our great politicians) should work out a system that actually works in school we can’t expect a simple teacher to speak 6 different languages treat the biggest asshole of a child like it is perfect and be yelled at by parents because their kid can’t even read at 10 years old or you tell them to do homework together with him and the parents tell you they have no time.
In all honesty if Wana have kids you need to look after them they are not just an achievement to reach they are an active commitment and you need to maybe give up some things of your current lifestyle to be a good parrent
I’m going to add mine : I think french worker in Luxembourg are fine, most people think bad about french people but this is a selection bias. There are a lot of french working in Luxembourg (over 200 000 I think) it makes sense a part of them are asshole. But there is no more asshole in the french population that any other population in term of % of total population. It appears a lot of french are asshole, but this is just because french is the majority of the private sector working population. Public sector is highly luxembourgish based (90%+).
I have been working with french for 7 years in 4 differents company. And no I am not french.
Most of people that are talking about Luxembourgers never met them in a private space and therefore their opinions about them is often irrelevant

The gare Is fine.
In general the city Is quite safe for a place if it’s size.
If all the border and immigrants workers decided to not work one week, the country would collapse and no local would be able to get paid their cushy administration salary or pension
Luxembourg has many issues but overall, it is probably one of the best country for a middle class/ upper middle class family in the world. Most of the people are biased with unrealistic expectations and compared themselves to richer and privileged families in the country since more than hundred years !
Luxembourg isn’t boring and actually has lots of stuff going on. Most people just don’t bother looking for it, for reasons I cannot fathom.

They don’t know how well off they are. And they are a grumpy people. I’m saying this as Luxembourger:)
Teachers are overpaid.
The healthcare system is full of uninterested and greedy doctors who are mainly focused on money and don’t care about your health issues, as they know only a few are genuinely good. They just care about money. The only difference between healthcare in poorer EU countries is digitalisation and the appearance of the offices or hospitals.
Investing so heavily in finance and underpaying deep tech engineers is silly, and we will all see the effect of that in 5-10 years, when the competitive advantages of Luxembourg will be rendered useless by AI and European regulations.
The good thing is that the housing market will collapse at that point, so I will be able to buy something at a fair price 😅

Luxembourg is less and less safe each year, crime is more common, the media is silent about it.

Anyone who says « b-b-but we have highest gdp per capita » when talking about housing affordability is incredibly self centered and straight up hates the poor/average people.
Believing you speak 5 or 4 languages fluently, when in reality it’s just 1 fluently (not always) and the others are average at best.
Painfully obvious when Luxembourgers travel to France or Germany
Living in Luxembourg City is one of the best investments you can make. I’d rather pay €1,000 more in rent than lose 2–3 hours of my life commuting every day.
And if you can’t afford it because you decided to have children… well, that’s on you. Having kids is a choice, not a mandatory life milestone. Your childcare schedule doesn’t automatically make your time more valuable than mine, and being child-free doesn’t mean I’m the default person to stay late, cover holidays, or work around your decisions

A lot of companies encourage to give your life to work. That’s not supposed to work like that. Work life balance should be a bigger priority
Housing is pretty affordable
Government should get rid of like 40-50% of their employees because a lot of them don’t work at all and would have been kicked from private sector jobs years ago.
We should ban tobacco and all its derivatives, as well as carbon-based fuels for transports (yes, that means petrol).
Commuters and cross border workers should be forced to learn luxembourgish the same way luxembourgers are forced to learn their language when moving to their countries.
i love luxembourg and there are plenty of things to do and people to meet.
House prices should go down by 50% to improve the country for the future.
Then we can also stop indexation which makes us very uncompetetive.

1. Lux
2. English
3. french
4. The noise you make when you step barefoot on a lego block
5. German
Im as leftist as it gets, the ony thing that i agree on with parties like ADR is the importance of our language.
Luxembourgish should be learned in school, and not reduced every few years like they are currently do.
Oh and Luxembpurg Gare area is fine. People that have an issue with it never really walk around the Gare area. Some junkies, some dealers, but not dangerous.
