Istanbul, Turkey as seen from the International Space Station. A city of ancient history and many empires! Its lights are also diverse in color and intensity, spread through hills and historic streets, characteristic of old world cities. I took this photo on Expedition 72 to the ISS, using Nikon Z9. More photos from space can be found on my [twitter](https://x.com/astro_Pettit) and [Instagram](https://www.instagram.com/astro_pettit/), astro_pettit, for those interested

Do you happen to easily recognize places like airports etc through patterns after looking at many cities?

      Amazing…

This image has amazing quality for a mere 3.9 megabytes. Oh how the times have changed…

I can make out the stadium close to me, make out the school I studied at, the park I go to take a jog, the train station I use on my way to work, the hospital I take mom to…Hell, can even almost make out my street if not for some light distortion!

Thank you for this. And godspeed on your journey.
