A bit interesting that the *Toronto* Star calls him „Jack Layton’s son“ instead of „Mike Layton“ considering he was a former councillor (I actually thought „maybe Jack has another son“). It totally makes sense for the Globe and Mail or National Post, but it’s a bit odd for the Star.
I’m not sure why he’d do this, you’d reckon if he was interested in federal politics he would have went for the leadership instead, which he chose not to do.
Regardless, I don’t believe he’d win here, this isn’t a good seat for the NDP. They were 60 points behind the Liberals last election, and that type of margin just can’t be overturned, no matter the strength of the candidate.
