    1. [Here’s the scientific paper.](https://www.science.org/doi/10.1126/science.aea9708) The planet orbits a red dwarf. It is likely tidally locked or nearly tidally locked. The planet receives an X-ray flux that is 2.7 to 16 times that received by Earth. The mass of the planet is over 5 times that of the Earth.

      They detected helium in the atmosphere. This is consistent with reference 39, a paper that modeled of the planet’s atmosphere. That paper suggests the planet has an atmosphere thicker than Venus.

    2. Venus has an atmosphere too. A very thick, very hot & very toxic one. No life that we know of there.

      Relative to Earth: **1.87 g**

      A person who weighs:
      **180 lb (81.6 kg)** on Earth would weigh about **337 lb** on LHS 1140b.

      Even though LHS 1140b’s revised density (~6 g/cm³) is only modestly greater than Earth’s, its much larger mass more than compensates for its larger radius. The result is a surface gravity nearly **twice that of Earth**.

      Humans could probably stand and move under such gravity, but sustained activity would be extremely strenuous. Over time, walking, climbing stairs, and lifting objects would require nearly twice the force they do on Earth.

      48 Light years away means that humans will never get there.

      Setting aside the currently impossible amount of fuel required to power such a spaceship, if* we could travel 5%-10% of light speed it would take between 500 and 1,000 years to get there.

      * Current tech can get us to 38,000 mph, or 0.005% of light speed.

    6. Helium atmosphere sounds like your voice would be too high pitched for any meaningfull communications let alone breathing an oxygenless gas!
