None of this is necessary, acceptable or inevitable. We can have a better Ireland if we simply stop putting self interest over nature. The pictures are shocking.

That last photo is terrifying, you can see how close the fire line is coming down to those houses. Hope everyone got out safe and Coillte gets their act together on fire breaks after this.
See when we piss and moan about having no rain, shite like this is why Ireland needs rain. Heather, gorse, pine and endless amounts of dry grass is highly flammable and the fact that we are one if the windiest countries in Europe does not help at all. Fuck this heat.
Hopefully with the coilte mono crop gone they will plant a variety of native trees instead of another ecologically dead spruce plantation

walked into town in clonmel this morning and could get a faint smell of smoke, can see a thin sheet of it over town and surrounding hills..

I’m not really too knowledgeable about such things but in wooded and forested areas like this shouldn’t there be a fire brake of some sort? Like a break in the forest line where there is just dirt? So the flames don’t spread.
It’s like something from Apocalypse Now. Fucking hell.
Last pic is spectacular yet terrifying.
Any idea how far the fire is from the house?
But sure look…aren’t the sunny days worth destroying our landscape for?
We need rain and anyone who disagrees cna nap in the fire
