Journalist Vakho Sanaia has been sentenced to 14 days of administrative detention over Facebook posts about ruling party officials Papuashvili and Bozhadze.
Sanaia had been mocking Georgia’s newly launched „scroll-and-screenshot“ department – a police unit created to monitor social media for „offensive“ content – by sarcastically urging people to „stop calling Papuashvili and Bozhadze d*ckheads,“ since that’s now a punishable offense. For those posts, he was fined 6,000 GEL (~$2,300).
He responded with a follow-up:
> I wrote a status saying „don’t call Papuashvili and Bozhadze d*ckheads“ and they fined me 6,000 lari for it. Well, in that case, I don’t know, go ahead and call them that.
That post earned him 14 days behind bars.

The opinion of average qoci about this is as long as it doesn’t affect them or their family members they are okay with this. Moreover as it happens to people who oppose their political ideas they agree with it. They have the soup to eat.
