      A) That’s a lie

      B) If the person in the country making the most important decisions was only getting „0-3“ hours of sleep a day, they’re doing something wrong, and/or they’re in no state to be making important decsions. In the end, they’re disregarding their very basic health which will ultimately be of detriment to the country.

      C) That’s pathetic and not impressive if that was the intent.

Edit: I see this all the time in my industry. But anyone who has been around for a while knows consistent lack of sleep causes many more problems than it helps solve.  As a manager, I want my reports to get sleep and have work life balance, but selfishly I also can’t have people who are sleep deprived doing (often error-prone) work or making important decisions. I’ve seen it happen so many times where fuck ups happen because the person on watch has hit a wall.  I’ve literally ended meetings and calls with my reports who I know have refused to stop working.

This has the „I wake up at 4am and work till 7am the next day.“ Lying energy.

Takaichi-san pattern sleep deprivation is inversely related with her ratings.

If you sleep that much as a leader, you are a shit leader. It indicates that you micromanage everything and are unable to delegate and train subordinates. You are probably the type of leader who sets unreasonable expectations and then toxically bullies and gripes on your employees every day, burning them out and destroying your human capital. I bet people absolutely dread coming into work each day.

Oh yeah if there is one thing I want from a leader it’s sleep deprivation.
I know *I* am best at making critically important decisions when I’m running on three hours sleep.

With that amount of sleep, on a continuous basis, no middle aged person is functioning or thinking clearly.

So is the Japanese PM admitting to be dysfunctional?

    7. Imagine idolising Thatcher for any reason… but also, for her *sleep routines*. Thatcher, who famously died of dementia.

People always have this fetish to claim suffering like it’s some sort of achievement. What does it really signal? She’s so incompetent that she needs to work that hard to compensate? Or that she doesn’t even know what does “don’t work hard, work smart” mean?

    9. „look how tough I am!“

      And

„See! You complain about working long hours, but if you were like me you would have all the time you need.“

    10. Wild hallucinations from sleep deprivation might explain the bat-shit insane stuff she believes in.

Sleeping 8 hours a night is a superpower for me. I am so much more productive.

Wow, that’s exactly what our PM(Narendra Modi) said back in the day.

Sleep deprivation isn’t a badge of honor—it’s a leadership risk

    14. These crazy people could be crazy on their own. Or get medical help and heal. But instead they choose to celebrate and spread their craziness. It makes them dangerous.

    15. Being sleep deprived is not a brag.

If you’re an employee, you’re either overworked by your boss or you’re not doing your job well.

If you’re the boss (or the PM), then you have management issues.

The ol‘ Elon Musk argument. „I work 25 hours a day, 8 days a week! Excuse me while I post 137 times on Twitter today about how white people are in danger.“

What would be the evolution of this „flex“ ?

Next PM : I eat one time a day

Next PM after that : I spend only 7000 yen per month to survive.

because I am not japanese, maybe I don’t understand. but the sleep flex is pathetic. Because what does that achieve? Is it actually useful in any case?

    18. This is that “you don’t deserve sleep until you’ve achieved all of your difficult goals“ bullshit that gym losers keep posting about

It used to be that our famous leaders of politics, industry, sciences, etc. would regulalry take time to rest and recuperate and meditate in the state of affairs. Taking the time to go on retreats, write journals to record their thoughts, participate in hobbies to give their mind a rest. Now everyone is so obsessed with feigning productivity and business and everything is worse of for it.

    20. That’s not a good thing to promote for a country known for having a study and work culture that is excessive.

    21. markpreston54 on

frankly I scare any manager or politician boasting low amount of sleep as anything worth feeling proud of, this shows tendancy of micromanagement.

last politician I can remember who do that is Stalin

    22. Pulling an all nighter impairs your cognitive ability to something comparable to being drunk.

The PM is publicly flaunting being cognitive-impaired at work. Not good for optics. Bad decision.

On second thought, maybe being cognitive-impaired causes you to make such decisions.

    23. It’s funny how during war time, kings, queens, presidents and prime ministers from different countries all had time to travel, golf, write diaries and all manner of stuff but now it takes between 24 and 21 hours a day to raise the retirement age, lower wages and cut taxes for the ultra rich.

Cringe hustle culture LARPing at the highest echelons of government around the world.

    24. This is her trying to look “tough”. It’s fully a Japanese corporate mindset, the whole “I work so hard, I don’t even need sleep because I’m working so hard at my job” bs that has thrived here for generations. It’s a very old school way to show she’s the hardest worker in the govt. It’s bullying as well, because she’s saying if you sleep you aren’t as productive as she is, you must be lazy, you’re not a hard worker. She’s the boss that never leaves the office and basically forces the employees to stay at their desks until she leaves. It’s toxic as hell

    25. A right wing party leader lying about how much sleep they need? Oh my god this is unprecedented
