Labor shortages are a hell of a drug.
The “right to disconnect” is already covered by overtime laws: if an employee is required to work, it is work, and applicable overtime rules apply. Those rules are not particularly ambiguous.
If someone genuinely qualifies as management, the limits may be different. But any director who repeatedly allows a client relationship to reach the point where a Sunday 10 p.m. call is supposedly “necessary” is not demonstrating dedication.
That is simply bad client management and bad management of their team.
