Pretty good change. But how will this effect busses and their companies? Will this be sustainable long term?
Edit: won’t diverting climate finance be a bad idea? Considering how worse the tempeture during summer is getting?

I don’t really care, but I’m getting very mixed messages on reddit, one post says he’s scrapped the £2 cap, others say he’s announcing it. Which is it? Make up your damn minds already newspapers.
It’s a shame the tories got rid of all the buses in my area in about 2016…

Get in. Been boiling my piss having to pay that extra quid each way. Can get a drink out now and not have it affect my budget at all now.
So assuming this means prices are coming back down thats handy as I just cancelled my monthly pass due to it going from £90 per month to £120
It’s like we have a labour government again. Glorious.
This isn’t a win, the buses to major towns near me go to every single village within what feels like a 40 mile radius to make running the service viable. This means that a journey that takes 20 minutes by car is an hour and 20 minutes by bus.
I would rather pay more and not have 2h of my day wasted.
The government needs to sort out transportation, re-nationalize it, means based deductions and improve connections, especially in rural parts of the country. Having lived in a country with exceptional public transport all i can say is it’s fantastic for the environment because people who have cars are more than happy to take public transport
Meanwhile in falkirk a bus from town up the road which takes 5 mins is £3.70 what a joke
Who does this benefit though? Working class commuting for their employment would pay weekly/monthly rather than single fare?
If those continue to raise you aren’t really offering an advantage to regular bus users?
A good move. Bus fares in London are £1.75 but in Sheffield £2.60, despite average earnings being much lower. Should be more even across the country. Was also shocked to get a bus from Berwick into Eyemouth and pay almost £10 for a return (20 minute ride).
I wish this would cover school busses too. It’s mad how much they cost. I hate the fact I have to clog up the roads driving my kids to school because it’s so much cheaper than them getting the offical school bus. £2 a day would be great, but even £2 each way would be a big improvement. Although at £4 a day it’s probably not worth it for two or more kids even then.
