I wish all artists could collectively bargain for themselves.
Youtube is straight robbing them.
I’m curious what this looks like when adjusted for average monthly listeners, though idk if that data is public.
Artists never release to just one platform. You post via distributors which release your music onto several streaming services at once.
So I wonder what the average number of cumulative streams across platforms needed to hit minimum wage would be.
Would love to see this for filmmakers
This advertisement for Qobuz should indicate the relevant length of time.
Now, how much do all the middle people in that equation make?
Honest question – is it an artist’s best interest for their music to be free so that it ends up in more people’s hands and drives more concert and merchandise revenue? Of which artists get a larger cut, right?
Is the normalized to account for free or ad tier pay outs. I know Spotify and YouTube pay lower for those compared to premium streams. Which when blended typically brings down the pay per stream. I dont know if those other services habe the same tiers.
Now do bandcamp album sales
Wait, is this why it’s so hard to find pro artists on Bandcamp?
Wife and I have been enjoying Qobuz for almost a year now
