Yes I know me saying that is “duh” but some days I can’t believe that a person who has no sense of morals, no compassion, no empathy for their fellow man has been elected to be president of the USA.
I want to say it’s a reflection of that country as a whole, but that is hard for me to grapple with as I have uncles, aunts, cousins who are American and I certainly know they are not like this.
In a conversation with my father I told him that maybe the American education system has to do with it (I’m a teacher) but he simply responded, “You can’t teach common sense.”
I’m in Toronto and have travelled down south plenty of times and although I think they are loud and abrasive I laughed it off and thought it was just a quirk of cultures. But the sheer entitlement, arrogance, “we are the best country in the world” attitude has solidified my opinion that barring an emergency I will never visit the United States ever again.
I feel sorry for the Americans who did not vote for this and don’t want this; but to be honest, the fact that so many Americans didn’t show up to the polls and vote leaves a very sour taste in my mouth.
They like to think of themselves as peacekeepers but they are one of the nations on this planet who loves to stir the pot.

Switch to buying as much Canadian or non American products as you can. I haven’t bought any fruit this year from the U.S. Celery is the only vegetable everything else has been Canadian or Mexican or Caribbean. I switched razor blade and body wash companies to German companies (Bull Dog and Nivea) and switched facial cleaners from Cerave to Cetaphil which is made in Quebec.
Also don’t go to Dominoes, McDonalds, Burger King etc etc. Support Canadian owned chains or independents

I think we’d be better off without CUSMA, let’s stop bailing out US companies just to be their employees. It’ll hurt, it’ll be painful, but imo we’d be better off in the long run. We will absolutely lose some but we can build other stuff without interference. Tens of billions in subsidies and incentives that instead could be invested in canadian owned start ups and businesses
