I wanna know how much of this is: Now working mothers even though husband used to be breadwinner and how much is mother is / was the breadwinner in the first place. In the first case, I guess it’s just harder now to get by on one income. My wife didn’t use to work. We got by on my income. Those days are now over. The economy and prices don’t allow for it anymore. She has to work otherwise we are simply not making it. And I earn more than many people in my area. I don’t understand how some Japanese people in my area are even alive. I don’t understand how they can finance their lives with the wages they get.

Relatively low gap in wealth compared to the US and still this bad huh? I consider myself feminist, but before that I believe in workers‘ rights where one person should make enough for the household, or each parent working 20 hours a week should be enough to live comfortably. Neoliberal feminism without caring about workers‘ rights means more supply of workers with same demand for jobs, which means it will lead to most households needing two 40-hour week workers to live comfortably.
