    1. I was wondering how effective would it be if Canada threatened to put export levies on oil?
From what I read, it seems that the US is in a vulnerable position right now regarding oil – Strait of Hormuz blockade, midterms approaching, the US strategic petroleum reserves running low.
However, I also understand that our pipeline runs through the US, and they have measures to escalate the situation.
So I wanted to get the community’s opinion on this move.

It’s typical Trump way of doing. He probably thinks it’s time to finally make a trade deal with Canada so he is putting as much pressures as possible to extract from us the most concessions possible. While these tariffs would be definitely extremely painful on some sectors, we have to remember they don’t take effect before 30 days a lot can happen until then. It is not the first time he threatened us and most likely not the last time.

    3. By the time anything actually happens the fires will largely be resolved or at least not producing enough smoke to impact America any more, nothing will happen and the news cycle will move on. This is honestly the stupidest news cycle.
