Shame we don’t have more crafts on the surface and in orbit that could utilize this crash more. A lot could be learnt from scanning the dust such a crash throws up, and from the seismic sensors on the surface.

Just a few months after this Jan 2025 launch, SX started deorbiting GTO launch upper stages. So we may not ever see this again.
Also, for the „space is big“ crowd, this discarded stage is expected to pass within a couple of kilometers of a Korean lunar orbiter.

It’s pretty easy to read as far as science papers go. They wrote it with amateur astronomers in mind.
