      Maybe label the pictures with names? Not everyone is a football/soccer fan and can automatically recognize all those faces.

      You should also include how many games they played (even if only in brackets), given that WC has been expanded.

      Edit: for context Ronaldo had 15 goals in 19 games, Mbappe 22 in 22 and Messi 21 in 34 games. While Just Fontaine had 13 goals in 6 games.

      The ranking should be bracketed in eras to represent how the tournament changed. It’s unfair for people like Pele since when he played the tournament was organized vastly differently.

      If the field does indeed expand to 64 teams, you will see a lot more people rise up through this list (love Cape Verde and the run they had, but then you have teams like my beloved Iraq that just served goals on a silver platter to teams.) The competition will be watered down, and yeah Cape Verde was a great story and so were the run of African teams, but the final 8, it was 7 European teams and 1 South American team.

      Mbappe might end up with 40 goals if he plays in 1-2, maybe 3? World Cups. But France is always a talent rich country, so who knows if they will keep him on once he hits the later years of his career.

      This should be data is ugly. Thumbnail pictures are not sufficient to identify the people. It needs names and countries represented.

      There should be a list pre 2026 and another 2026 onwards since now it has more matches.

      Bonus stat, French player are now at the top of three of the four attacking individual stat :
      – Highest number of goals in a single WC : Just Fontaine (France), 13
      – Highest number of goals in WCs : Kylian Mbappé (France), 22
      – Highest number of assists in a single WC : Michael Olise (France), 7*
      – Highest number of assists in WCs : Lionel Messi (Argentina), 12

      Olise is 24 years old, there’s a non-zero chance he ends up beating Messi’s record later on in his career. Also, that number of assist in a single WC is the official record, because prior de 1966 assists weren’t officially recorded, but unofficially everybody agrees that Kopa did 9 in a single WC and… he was French too.

      Let’s be real this WC is not even the same as previous ones and has totally different format, at the same time introduces more teams; thus lowering the overall quality.

      Look at how easy to score vs Uzbekistan or Congo compared to how difficult vs top 10.

      What are their names, what do the colours mean? Not very clear or beautiful

      Data is ugly and colours are uglier. I tried guessing what would they mean, but that’s what legends are for.
