Almost all asylum applications by Russian deserters are being denied by German authorities.
This story takes a deeper look at a first-hand account by one of the young men who fears he’ll be sent back to die on the front lines.

They should see it as a chance to not be apolitical when they’re back in Russia.
Interesting how russians in general always prefer running away, rather than fighting for something.
Maybe European countries should give asylum and even cash bonuses to Russians who can prove they deserted. It would help deplete the Russian army.
EU making a huge mistake. Russian deserters would be sent back to front lines to die and to kill Ukrainians. By giving them asylum EU could reduce a number of available recruits to Russian military. The smart policy for them would have been to grant Russian deserters an asylum and to deny asylum to Ukrainian deserters so that Russia has a reduced recruit pool and Ukraine has a larger one.
Crazy that Germany is turning away guys fleeing a war, that policy is gonna age badly.
