Das Ziel dieser Streuung ist einfach: die erwartete Leistung im Vergleich zur tatsächlichen Leistung darzustellen. Einfacher Rangvergleich. Offensichtlich weist eine Abweichung von der Diagonale auf eine bessere/unterdurchschnittliche Leistung hin (was ich nicht ganz so subtil andeute). Etwaige Datenfehler sind meine eigenen.

Australia sitting right in the center in near perfectly balanced mediocrity. We’re only 20 years since we broke the witch doctors curse, so hopefully it’ll all wear off eventually.
How have you ranked teams within the brackets? e.g. Cape Verde only appear to be over achieving a little bit. However, if they were ranked top of the losers in the round of 32 then they would be massively over achieving. The reverse is true for Germany. Whilst this plot makes the names visible, I would argue that it infers that those who went out in the same round did better or worse than others who exited at exactly the same point.
How do you rank teams that got eliminated in the same round? This chart seems very arbitrary.
