Where was this talent 3 days ago. They could’ve easily won with this performance. This was a brilliant match.

      A superb, stellar performance tonight.

Well done lads, you’ve redeemed yourselves!

      enjoyed 101%

sloppy defence compensated by excellent attack!

should have played this against argentina…

      anyway happy 🙂

Noticed how there wasnt a gazillion fouls!! Argentina are just cheating pricks and FIFA love to be corrupt!

Between this and staying up watching the Mexico game this is by far the most I’ve ever enjoyed watching a world cup.

Just goes to show you how good both teams can play when the pressure is off.

It was a fun match to watch.

      That match was something else.

Both teams defending something to be desired, end to end stuff, with some cracking goals and play. Great game.

Shame we didn’t play like that against Argentina a massive ‚what if‘

      Very pleasing final game.

    10. The match was amazing. Both teams showed their class although the French did leave it until the second half. But also I have to comment on how the players behaved after the match. They were all showing their class to each other.

Great game- shame on the sore losers who said the game for 3rd place was meaningless. Now the commentators and pundits are applauding Englands highest placement in the Tournament since 1966.

Straws well and truly clutched, You’ve gotta laugh….

    12. Great win, but what does the team actually win other than third place? Is there a physical medal, money, or whatever?

    13. StefanosPChristofi on

England have truly good world class players Rice, Spence, Saka, Bellingham.

I will pour one out (a tin of beans) on the floor (a croissant) for France and England’s good sportsmanship

    15. I’ve never really been into football but watching this match made me see why everyone loves it

The semi final was a disastrous day at the office.

But we’ve just beaten France to get third place.

Start of last season in the Prem nobody rated Daniel Farke. But with a bargain basement squad Leeds took points off Liverpool, Chelsea and Man United.

      Managers can and do change.

    17. Class performance, there are a lot of haters who say this game doesn’t matter but this squad went out there and played a great game.

They got their best result since 1966.

      Let’s be positive.

    18. Almost regret not watching this.

Meh, I’ll watch the repeat tomorrow.

      Birthday treat.

      ☺️

My buddy and I watched it while sitting in the bathroom during a ballistic rocket attack (in Kyiv) and I think ill remember it forever. Took the edge off

    20. Lots of comments about how this match was meaningless, how it was as representative as a pre season friendly etc but there was still plenty on the line…

      – Deschamps last match after 14 years at the helm, I’m sure he would have wanted to go out on a high

      – Kane & Bellingham were in contention for golden boot, IF one of them got a hat trick and Mbappe didn’t score then one of them might have got it

      – Bellingham and Kane were also tied for highest ever goal tally by an English play e

      – Mbappe was in contention for (and could still win) the Golden Boot

      – Winning team would move to third in FIFA rankings

      – victory means it’s England’s best finish since 1966

    21. Wise-Youth2901 on

I think we could have beat Argentina but coming in third is not a terrible result. I think people are more upset at the way England lost against Argentina… Going defensive. If we had lost trying to attack, people would have been more forgiving.

Easily match of the tournament (so far). I’m not expecting such a swashbuckling final.

    23. spinosaurs70 on

What the hell did I just watch?

I would love to say no defense but the goal keepers weren’t bad including the English and yet they still let so many goals in.

If my data is right the avg premier game is less then 3 points on average and this has 10!!!

    24. Material-Bee-907 on

As effective that Harry Kane has been in this tournament, it was refreshing to see the game unfold without him

    25. What a mental, brilliant, flowing, roller-coaster and mostly clean game of footie.

Most pleasurable (!) game of this World Cup that I’ve watched. Such amazing camaraderie shown after the game both within and btwn the teams too.

      Well done lads!

    26. Meowing-To-The-Stars on

It was a rollercoaster and something I loved to see. No crying every 5 minutes and fishing for fauls. It was actually engaging to watch. I’ll spare myself watching the finale but I can imagine it’s going to be a theatrical slop

    27. Maximum-Success-229 on

It was a fun game with nothing on the line… It was carefree footie

    28. A_friendly_goosey on

      Final will be 1-0
Third place game ends up being an utter mad frenzy
      Shame

    29. Without a doubt the most mental game of the entire tournament. Yes, it was B team v B team, but after the first half, France decided there was a difference between losing for 3rd place and being straight-up humiliated. So they brought back half the A team and actually started trying, forcing England to also make tactical subs as the lead diminished from 4, 3, 2 to 1. Ridiculous. but absolutely riveting. The only real mystery is why Watkins wasn’t brought off when he added absolutely zero value for the full 90 minutes.

    30. Both the funniest and most thrilling match I’ve seen in a while. No stakes and yet with a four goal lead, and a reputation on the line, it went mad. I’m glad I watched it live.

    31. Finishing third. Losing to the former winner with the world best player. Beating the best attacking team (FRANCE) – happy with the outcome but still gutted.

    32. Fucking incredible game.

Watched it at the pub and *literally nobody was there.*

Incredibly clean game, everyone seemed in high spirits, players were helping each other up, smiling etc. 10 goals scored. Incredible.

Both England and France played excellently. Even if it was a B team. And Mbappe scored his 2 to seal in his attempt at the golden boot. What a game.
