I’m not surprised. The US is doing everything to destroy its soft power and relations with other countries. If they want to isolate themselves, it’s no problem, their decision, just don’t be surprised in 5-10-15 years that everyone prefers China instead of US
In Spain we’ve prefered China over the US for quite a while tbh
With the exception of Brazil and a few others I think that the pattern here is that the less a country feels threatened by China the more likely they are to have a positive view of it, hence why long standing American allies in Europe have switched positions while others in East Asia have not.
Irregardless of the map/data
OP’s a bot/troll farming karma and engagement.
– 5 months old(“young”)
-) 1500 contributions, with over 1100 being just posts(that’s both massive amount for that amount of time, and bots/trolls tend to post significantly more posts than comments.)
-) over 170k total karma (which is both a massive amount for an account this young, and unless the account is farming for karma or is just insanely lucky/has their fingers on the pulse of the cultural zeitgeist, is practically impossible)
-) account is privated (it’s not always true, but most accounts that are privated, do so to hide the more suspicious and immediately jarring aspects of the account, or effectively, to hide the aspects that immediately put them as bots/trolls.)
-) and ofc, the posts tend to be very reactionary in nature. (Focusing on topics that inspire a high degree of emotional responses, and worded/presented in a manner that ensures arguments in the thread below it, otherwise known as, “engagement farming”)
Brazil is pretty divided, that tracks
Obvious result of current politics from US. European allies are constantly attacked and offended. Inflation caused by the Iranian crisis etc.
In 2014, 64% of Brazilians held a favorable opinion of the United States, compared to 44% who said the same about China. Thus, over a 12-year period, the figure for the U.S. dropped by 17 percentage points, while the figure for China rose by 2 points (https://www.poder360.com.br/poder-internacional/imagem-dos-eua-piora-no-brasil-e-se-aproxima-da-china/).
Soon, given Trump’s attacks against Brazil, China will overpass
It’s not that we like China more now it’s rather that we dislike the US even more.
Went to China last year. Really enjoyed it. Nice people and Beijing was really modern. They are an emerging nation and seen as a much more affordable and reliable business partner. The US are destroying themselves from within. Won’t be going back there.
That’s the Trump government for you 🤦♂️
Not difficult when you have Trumpfuck wrecking our reputation with disastrous war on Iran and just his general shitty behavior.
Unfortunately in Canada we’re having a rather difficult time with MAGA. Unlikely to get better any time soon, despite their midterm elections (high probability of emergency cancellation), and we’re just a perfect target that can’t go away or conjure up more people to stand a fighting chance against them.
Funny thing about the question. “ seen more favorable “ between 2 choices… so which is worse the rock or the hard place? LoL nobody that has China is thinking great, we will be successful, we will grow, all will be wonderful. Its two giants fighting like in AoT, and we are just the ppl fleeing for our lives trying to survive. 2 assholes, being assholesz with a 3rd numb nuts Russia, trying to dry hump a football in the cold.
A who’s propaganda works better map
Propaganda bot
The world?
This includes three of the Five Eyes (obviously not the US and NZ wasn’t surveyed). That tells you how far we’ve fallen.
More favourably is of course relative. I view neither favourably. But one isn’t currently threatening to invade its allies and invading the middle east.
u/bot-sleuth-bot
The yanks are threatening their allies and enemies so it’s really not that surprising.

A lot of countries that prefer the US also happen to have a seething contempt for China, like Japan, India and South Korea, lol.
Trump’s pointless tariffs, his xenophobic rhetoric, his outright threats to steal land from „allies…“ Can’t really say I’m surprised in the least at the European numbers but suspect they will bounce back. China isn’t a good faith partner either, all too happy to renege on trading contracts to force a renegotiation and they have a horrific history of not enforcing intellectual property law as well as industrial espionage. Those things probably hurt the US more than many other trading partners since it’s our IP laws that get blown off and our designs that get stolen/copied.
All that to say, things could rebound for the US with better and more cooperative leadership and China may put on a good face in the short term but in the long term they are playing to their own advantage, everyone else be damned so it’s not sustainable.
The Trans Pacific Partnership being blown up by populists on both the right and left hasn’t helped the US either, as that would have empowered many of those nations that favor China and weakened China’s trade power a bit.
Chinese neighbors: we like Americans.
American neighbors:we like Chinese.
Poland: american arms are the best.
I’m surprised it’s Brazil and not Argentina. I guess, maybe, its current government has lost popularity and as a consequence the people now view the U.S less favorably.
You can’t convince me this wasn’t a goal of the Trump administration.
Totally deserved
It’s pretty impressive that Trump has managed to:
– Send countries fleeing to China for trade deals
– Make Iran look like a victim
– Turn the whole world against the US in the WC
Has he been going to the Gerard Ratner School of Public Relations?
The GOP have fucked over America for decades.
It’s GG. China is going to own this century
It’s almost like lashing out at everyone around you for no reason is a golden ticket for your opponent being viewed more favorably because all they have to do is nothing.
Absolutely no way the UK views china more positively than the US unless the survey was held exclusively in Shoreditch or the likes.
Argentina sees chuna favorably but brazil doesnt? Those are definitely conservative adults over 50 doing that
Hehe thanks trump.
Actually, the USA started to actively crater, whereas China just maintained its position
Some of it is not surprising. Much of the global south has viewed China favorably for quite some time now, and that sentiment hasn’t changed. Poland has always viewed the US favorably, given that it was the contributions of Woodrow Wilson that led to Poland’s rebirth post-WWI and its decades under Soviet control. Long-time US allies in Asia have their own issues with China that two Trump presidencies aren’t enough to erase.
What is surprising is by how many points China has on the US in a few countries. +20 in Italy, +24 in Spain, and +30 in Turkey caught me a bit off guard. I know Trump has recently had some beef with Spain, but +24?
Yeah electing an unhinged, pedophile, convicted rapist will do that I guess
How do you look at this map and still have the guts to call it „global sentiment“?
Outside of the news cycle this makes sense as Chinese products and services have really turned the corner in terms of cost to quality ratio and in many categories beats American offerings whose costs have left reality for the vast majority of humans on this planet not in a developed nation which is most people. Add to this Chinese Open Source AI to chill the aggressive USA AI labs that just want to own and control the space, there is a lot to love about China all around. They certainly have earned it while America is just trying to find new ways to exploit and extract more money from you. I am down to pay more, but the value has got to be there and it has not been. America can turn it around though, but it will take a massive grass roots movement as the current power structure is rotten to the core and in denial. Real shame as I really do love America and many Americans but OMG, they are so out of sync with reality. We all are to varying degrees but the USA is an outlier right now on that front. Just look at the spend on AI data centers with no profit plan in sight. Oh boy. Gonna suck for a while as a reckoning is coming.
This is largely due to Trump.
Most Americans hate him too. But, enough Americans in the right places voted that moron into office.
I think a lot of this comes down to reactions to Trump, and the fact that half of the US actually supported him.
If you asked this during an Obama or even a Biden term, it would look quite different.
USAID is gone, making sure China will soon run the world
