Hallo Leute,
Meine Freundin und ich planen diesen Sommer einen 25-tägigen Roadtrip. Wir werden höchstwahrscheinlich die Autobahn meiden und über kleine Straßen fahren, getragen von unserem guten alten Renault Twingo.
Wir planen, zum Schwimmen an den Bodensee zu fahren, zum Wandern in die Alpen zu gehen und dann nach Norden zu fahren. München, Regensburg, dann bis nach Prag. Kleine Wanderung an der polnischen Grenze, dann Breslau, Posen und Berlin.
Diese Reise erscheint mir für die Zeit, die wir haben, etwas zu lang. Ehrlich gesagt würde ich nicht nach Berlin fahren, wenn wir dort nicht bereits Tickets für ein Festival gebucht hätten 🤣
Außerdem würden wir gerne ein Stück Polen besuchen. Aber es wäre sicherlich klüger, Dresden auf dem Weg Prag-Berlin zu durchqueren …
Ich würde euch gerne nach den sehenswerten Orten auf dem Rückweg Berlin-Lyon fragen. Wir werden wahrscheinlich in Leipzig und Straßburg einen Zwischenstopp einlegen … Wenn Sie Orte kennen, die einen Zwischenstopp auf dem Weg wert sind, sagen Sie es mir bitte!

Freiburg im Breisgau is really nice
I recommend stopping by in cities like Erfurt oder Marburg or even some real small towns/villages along the way to get some views of the fairytale-like timber-frame-house areas of germany.
You should head through the Black Forest if you want to drive along small roads with beautiful landscapes (and curves)
3000km isn’t too bad in that amount of time. I did a 7500km roadtrip in 21 days but that was a lot of highways so maybe not comparable.
That said, cutting through Dresden is an option especially for the national parks there.
I’ll just say don’t underestimate how cool and beautiful a free stretch of Autobahn can be. There are some lesser used sections that are really nice. Just don’t go anywhere near the A2, including the stretch between Berlin and Warsaw. If you can find a good route to avoid the Autobahn there (or drive on a Sunday or at night), you’d likely be faster and avoid at least one traffic jam.
Also, Berlin traffic is monstrous at the best of times and there are basically no free parking spots. If you plan on seeing the city, you’d do well to plan ahead, either do park & ride or aim for a paid spot in a parking garage.
You are missing the upper rhine valley with Strasbourg and Alsace, and Freiburg and the Black Forest. I suggest to go straight south from Mannheim.
Sächsische Schweiz is not far away from Dresden and it’s awesome to hike. Basteibridge is usually a must see when you are nearby.

Why go from Wrocław to Prague instead of Wrocław–Dresden–Prague?
Bamberg, a 70k city which is probably the most beautiful in Germany in it size. Its like German Comar but bigger and awesome. 50 Km north of Nuremberg.
Maybe Quedlinburg, but for sure stop at Bamberg and maybe the wine region of Unterfranken (for example Iphofen, Castell) and a visit to Rothenburg o d T while you pass through.
The current trip brings you very close to „Neuschwanstein Castle“.
If you like swimming, slides and sauna or just a bit relaxing during the trip, might want to check „Therme Erding“ or maybe „Miramar“.
„Sächsische Schweiz“ is really nice for a one-day hike, closer to Dresden.
If you are in Berlin I wouldn’t miss out the „Berliner Unterwelten“ – I can recommend the Subways / Cold War Tour, its basically underground bunkers untouched but in the state of 1950-1990.
Maybe cut Poznan, Wrocław is a really pretty city would spend the time there and go directly to Berlin afterwards

Make sure to not miss Dresden
Skip Friedrichshafen, that’s maybe to ugliest city at the Bodensee (Lake of Constance).
Go to Konstanz, take the ferry to Meersburg, both beautiful cities. Next to the island of Lindau! Much better than stopping in Friedrichshafen!
Friedrichshafen is meh in my opinion. There are better towns in the area.

Wittenberg, Dessau-Wörlitz Garden Realm, Torgau, Leipzig, Naumburg, Erfurt, Weimar, Eisenach (Wartburg), Coburg, Bamberg, Rothenburg, Schwäbisch Hall, Baden-Baden, Heidelberg…

Mostly not THAT exciting, except for Teplické skály. The best mountains in this part of the world is Saxon/Bohemian Switzerland near Dresden. Even the small Zittau mountains are more exciting in my opinion.
On your way back from Berlin drive via Würzburg to Bad Wimpfen. It is an old imperial residence. An actuall middleage oldtown which survive all wars. Next to it you will find the old Residence of the knights of malta, 1 of 2 surving crusader Orders.
Drive along the neckar than, in gundelsheim you will se the Former HQ of the teutonic knights. Allmost every hilltop has some old castle ruins deep inside the forrest. You can Camp on some there. Then via heidelberg to speyer. From there wissenburg, kayserburg, Colmar.
Have fun
It could be to long if you really go on smaller roads. Maybe sometimes the Autobahn will be the better choice.
Swiss: You could visit Zurich before the Bodensee, but I guess your route is good for the Rheinfall near Schaffhausen that is ouf course also a nice sight if you don’t have much time
Bavaria and Tschquie: good route!
Poland/Central Germany: If you go via Poznan, also visit Gorzow! But I personally would choose Dresden instead of the Poznan route (so Prague=>Wroclaw=>Görlitz=>Dresden=>Berlin) although it’s a longer drive. On your route back you could visit Leipzig and Erfurt. Another alternative would be to go to Berlin via Poznan as you planned, and for the drive back you could go: Berlin=>Dresden=>Erfurt/Bamberg=>Rhein-Main leaving out Leipzig
France: I would rather choose a route through Elsass. Karlsruhe, Straßburg and Colmar are good Stopovers.
If you’re going to be avoiding the Autobahn and going through the small roads, be really careful with the speed limits. Those roads often cut directly through towns where they drop the speed limit to 30, and then set a speed camera right there before you realise what has happened. I’ve gotten a few fines that way when I’ve had to go around the Autobahn and into these town roads alternatives, just be careful with that.
Not Germany but don’t miss Karlovy Vary.
