Can’t wait for them to put a new bin and then pat themselves on the back I guess. As someone with a busstop without bin near, removing any bins because god forbid people put „the wrong stuff“ in them is insane.
Das een gekend fenomeen. Eender welke openbare vuilbak word misbruikt voor mensen hun persoonlijk huisvuil.
Had er ook een bij mijn zaak die een drank automaat heeft staan. Voor de blikjes in te doen, zogezegd. Heeft ook maar 1 week geduurd.
This is def one of the most stupid things i’ve seen in my life. Isn’t it obvious to these people that with no trashbins we’ll have trash anyway but it will be everywhere on the streets? I’m a good citizen and I just carry thrash with me till I find a bin but I’ve seen so many people who do not care about clean streets and now there will be even more.
You’d think people past primary school would all know that punishing the group/community for the behaviour of a few outliers doesn’t work and only causes problems
If only we had a culture here like they do in Japan, where everyone simply takes their rubbish home with them. You don’t even have public bins there. Only in shops/food stalls.
Als ze willen dat er niet gesluikstort wordt, maak het afval ophalen dan gratis zoals in (sommige) andere Europese landen.
Maar de prioriteit in België is altijd: **belastingen**, altijd al geweest en zal altijd zo blijven.
I see multiple people only focussing on the fact that the bin is being removed and not why the bin is being removed. It is not a place for people to put in the garbage from home. So instead of blaming the LIJN maybe also blame the people littering.
this is a consequence of not enough enforcement of the laws combined with getting rid of your garbage being a massive process that costs money hope this helps
Gelijk de glasbol een paar straten verder – blijkbaar werd er teveel afval gegooid in de vuilbak ernaast dus werd deze verwijderd, en nu gooien mensen gewoon hun dopsels mee in de glasbak. Geweldige oplossing.
Those trashcans are meant for small trash for passengers.
Problem is marginal people use them to throw their garbage bags from home into it (because otherwise you need to pay a tax).

De Lijn has nothing to do with this. Trash cans near bus stops are the responsability of the city.
Only the bus stop post with time table is from De Lijn all the rest you see is from the city. De Lijn has nothing to do with the bus stop and its surrounding’s. It only gives advice when asked about the traffic and safety.
Litterers will litter. My city’s full of bins and streets are still decorated with cigarettes.
Every day I see someone throw their cancer stick out of their car window. Every single day.
Plus, a full bin even attracts people who normally wouldn’t litter. “Oh, it’s full. They will take my can too if I put it next to it, right?” Yeah, I’m sure the trash collectors will appreciate that.
My downstairs neighbour always goes to the bin at the park at night to deposit her personal trash. Cheap and trashy behaviour.
In many countries with less public bins the streets are just as clean/dirty, people just learn to take their own trash.
