This route is designed to pass through all 48 contiguous U.S. states as efficiently as possible, touching each state without trying to visit every capital, landmark or major city. The result is a 113-hour drive that links the Northeast, Southeast, Midwest, Plains, Rockies and Pacific Northwest into one giant lower-48 loop.

One of the white dots is a place I’ve been to thousands of times. That’s kind of neat.
Yeah…. not for me. That’s way too much time in Missouri and Illinois.
In my dissipated youth, I drove a motorcycle from Great Smoky Mountains National Park to Ft. Polk, Louisiana in 13 hours straight. 1974. Most of it in the rain.

I love how they just touch Kansas and run. That’s exactly the amount of time anyone should ever spend in Kansas. The amount in Nebraska is brutal though. Too bad you can’t do the same there
