I can see that. While I support UK as an ally I don’t know if I want any European countries to have land in the western hemisphere

The Foreign Press guy was a minute away from pulling out a flag himself. I hate the Trump administration but I have the video on repeat now

Why are people still giving Argentina attention for this behaviour??

    4. Imagine The US team pulling a handmade flag saying Greenland and Canada belong to the US. DT 🍊🤯

I mean, the issue isn’t really a legal free speech problem, which is how the White House is framing this. The issue is the AFA and all Argentina players have to follow FIFA rules in a FIFA-run tournament. Those rules prevent political messages like the one those players displayed. As such, FIFA should punish those players in accordance with their own rules.

Freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from consequences. Especially when you willingly sign up to an organisation’s rules as part of the entry into a competition.

    6. Don’t forget that Trump sees Argentina as his safe haven if things get really bad for him. He gave them $40 billion to reserve his spot among his first acts of his 2nd term. He knows Argentina welcomed the Nazis after WW2, and they will welcome him as well. Any chance Trump gets to praise and support and defend Argentina, he will take it.

Our administration in the US is anti-American. All we can do is impeach this monster in January.

    8. Because of course they did. And I’m sure he’ll back a new invasion as well.

I am afraid of the final after how much the Spanish PM criticized trump for his war in iran

I don’t think an idiot like trump would let Spain win the WC on american soil after what happened

edit: fifa didn’t even say a thing so far about that incident, they will ignore it completely

Who cares? Honestly, it’s just a sign at a stupid sports event.

Why does anyone here care at all?

    13. Yeah, the same White House who think the U.S. should take over Canada, Greenland, etc. No shit.

    14. Wtf has the White House got to do with it? They are not responsible for enforcing or judging on the rules and wouldn’t understand them if they were… Nor were the US involved.

    15. Free speech?

Okay, let’s see how a „Trump diddles kids“ banner goes down when Spain wins.

    16. England team should unfurl a Trump is a rapist pedo banner after the 3rd place game and exercise their free speech.

    17. Cos messi laughed along and applauding at the white house when trump was boasting about killing children in iran

    18. Of course the white house backed Argentina. We’ve said no to giving Argentina the Falklands and we all know Americas leaders don’t like to take no for an answer.

    19. Wow big surprise the Americans who are best mates with Israel back the Argentines no matter what. This has literally nothing to do with free speech, however. If they wanted political speech laws to be loosened before the tournament, FIFA COULD have done that to honour “US free speech” (they still shouldn’t have). But clearly this has everything to do with Argentina winning over any (better) team. Revoke all the Argentine visas here, even as a Chelsea fan. Enzo can piss off for all I care after this.

    20. Milei is basically selling the whole country to US, Argentina is already owned by US corporations.. and there is oil around the falklands… and when you talk about oil there is one country always popping out… They can’t go directly against UK so why not using some dumb Argentinians to do their dirty work

      News from 2018:

      https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44232979

«**President Donald Trump has praised an NFL ban on players kneeling during the national anthem, questioning whether such protesters should stay in the US.**

He said: „You have to stand proudly for the national anthem or you shouldn’t be playing, you shouldn’t be there, maybe you shouldn’t be in the country.“

Bet White House would have had a different opinion if it was about Palestine.

    23. But of course it does. Determined to be on the wrong side of history, each and every time.

      Hawaii for the Hawaiians!!!

As a rule you can’t make political statements. You must not offend people. Don’t provide any controversial views.

Except about the English. White guys are an open target.

Very similar to the one they held up in Port Stanley in 1982, only that one didn’t have anything written on it.

    26. RiccusDiccus on

Well of course they did. You can always count on them to do the opposite of what makes any sense for them to do or say.
