its when you see thats an average, as in 600,000 average people, and then its only about seven actual individuals each of whom are quite large

    2. The article literally says it’s a contributing factor in 4% of cases in obese people not that they’re out of work because they’re fat…

Give them a moo moo, a drinking bird and a home terminal, then let them work for a nuclear power plant remotely.

You can be crude and disparaging. You can make all the fat jokes you want.

You do however have to concede this is an unavoidable issue for humanity. Evolutionarily, we have been primed to absolutely gorge ourselves when times are plenty to prepare ourselves for when times are lean. This is literally hardwired into the vast majority of our brains.

It worked before when all we had to eat was what we hunted and the fruits of the earth and there would be an expected lean time in winter. It does not work when we can now provide hyper processed food all year long.

Maybe give it another millennium or likely much much more before humanity evolves to be more savvy to avoiding obesity.

That’s not even to mention how an enormous part of the world economy is devoting to advertising and satisfying gluttony.

i’m not surprised, it’s really hard to move when you’re big. i’ve gone from 90 pounds to 170 in a year (i am 4’10) and everything is so… difficult. i’m essentially dragging two people around and i’m tired all the time at work since my job is active. i can barely run and i get tired while walking. it’s not fun, so i can’t imagine what it’s like for those who are even bigger

Really? There’s shit loads of jobs you can do if you’re obese. I’ve got various friends who do work from home call centre/admin type jobs that someone like Homer Simpson when he deliberately puts on weight could do.

Even jobs on your feet shouldn’t be an issue. Loads of very overweight nurses for example.

I get the feeling this is bullshit from the Telegraph, fat-phobia disguised as „news“.

“The fingers you have used to dial, are too fat. To obtain a special dialling wand, please mash the keypad with your palm now”

Mandate fat loss jabs to receive their benefits and a blanket band on delivery apps

One of the reasons my brother in law gets disability benefit, then spends it all on deliveroo etc for sausage rolls, crisps and fags. Don’t worry though his rent is fuck all and he gets reduced council tax. Yes I am a bitter old man

So what’s the solution? Hand out fat jabs like sweets at the expense of the British tax payer obviously

Checks and balances should’ve made this a self solving problem, can’t work to afford food? then your weight drops until you can work.

By all means be too fat to work if you’re rich enough, but the social safety net is supposed to stop people starving, it shouldn’t be possible to get fat on benefits.

If we could transform these 600,000 magically to a healthy weight overnight, there wouldn’t be 600,000 more engineers, doctors and business people would there? There would be 600,000 unemployable people without an excuse.

    12. GLP-1s in pill form will be with us shortly. We should be chucking them out like smarties.

I’d like to see a regression analysis looking at any link between both social division and obesity vs the shift from folk doing e’s together in fields or warehouses towards consuming booze and gak at home.

    14. TheStigianKing on

In a world where remote work is a norm and most work involved sitting behind a computer, any claim of being too fat to work is a big pile of horseshit.

    15. I’ve told you I don’t need to learn any more about this subject at the moment. Have you read my response to you?

What am I saying that you think I’m wrong about and this study will educate me about?

State that and the part of the report I should read that relates to it and I might consider it.

As it stands, you’re just saying “you’re wrong, do a load of reading to try and prove yourself wrong and me right”

Where am I wrong? What info will change my mind?

I said that if you want to lose weight, it’s easy.

Burn more calories than you consume.

If you want to do this more than you want to be fat, you will. People cold turkey and stay off heroin. It’s because they want the end result enough to tolerate the pain and future boredom.

If you enjoy eating/need to eat more than you care about being fat, you will struggle.

I fully understand that some people have it easy and some people have it very difficult.

I used to drink coke and hated Diet Coke. I switched and now normal coke tastes disgusting

You can reprogram your brain to a certain extent.

Make the effects of the drug not worth the short term pleasure . It’s a known strategy for drug addicts.

I do not deny that some people are hungrier than others. If you’re fat and only eat when you’re unbearably hungry and only eat small portions regularly, I genuinely feel sorry

Most people are just food addicts if they’re really honest with themselves. It may have been caused by genetics, just like genetics can cause heroin addiction by chasing highs from low level baseline happiness. childhood trauma etc.

It’s the same thing. The only difference is food is unavoidable

    16. WFH jobs should be a requirement for any benefits they receive, no work, no benefit

    17. Makes me wonder why people even post stuff from the Telegraph.

Another headline designed to be devisive and to punch down on people, I’d it’s not about race or gender identity or class it will be some bullshit like this.

The pape has an agenda and it reports pretty much all it’s „news“ in a way to further that, in some ways it’s worse than the mail.

If Monjaro was available to all and not just diabetics this problem could be solved very easily
