    1. Corporate answer: competitive advantage through product differentiation

      Layman answer: mayonnaise

I guess you just prefer your slop with mayonnaise rather than ketchup.

    3. I have never gotten a good meal from Hesburger, soggy fries, just 80% mayo and once the bun was literaly frozen. Not that McDonald’s is supreme, but atleast it is always even ok.

You answered it yourself. US based company is operating within it’s guidelines balancing profits and quality. It’s faster and easier to make stuff and when ingredients are cheap you get barely any quality.

Hesburger being Finnish chain needs better quality to draw customers over massive chain that can just sell billion cheap burgers daily world wide.

„Mcdonalds is American so i literally dont understand why it doesnt taste as good.“

This is your cue. Hese is not American. America is not known for good food – fast or not. Forexample American ketchup vs European ketchup difference is huge. Both nutritionally and tastewise. That alone can make all the difference in one burger. The mayos also have real things in it, not just flavors. Sugar content is less as well also no high-fructose syrap.

McDonald’s is known for making sure their products taste the same everywhere.

Hese food used to be better. And nowadays the owner is very unpopular, even boycotted. But Finns overall don’t eat a lot of fast food anyhow compared to Americans.

International American food chains aren’t usually known for quality food. So it’s not a surprise to me when someone likes Hesburger more.

Took my friend from overseas, when he was visiting, to Hesburger and he ordered vegetarian meal. Told me that it tasted a lot better than ones he has had at McDonaldo.
Can’t tell if it’s true myself, since I don’t eat vege burgers tho!

    8. Little cardboard rings to keep the lettuce in! I loved hesburger when i visited Jarvenpaa!

    9. I’ll be honest, my experience as a Finn is that Hesburger usually sucks quality-wise. They don’t have to try, they are the default choice of fast food for many. McDonald’s on the other hand, has to compete for limited business and in my experience in my local area, Maccy generally has higher standards.

    10. Tornio man here. Mcdonalds tornio is shit even on Finland level. Jyväskylä Mcdonalds was ok.

Both have their highlights. Both have their monthly specials. Both have their bad sides. It is really hard to rank one on top of the other. Its all subjective anyway. OP is definitely a Hesburger fan and thats ok.

Burger King, McDonald’s, Hesburger in that order depending on how drunk I am on the way home. Hesburger last because I look like I had a fight with a jar of mayonnaise

    13. Hesburger fries are shit compared to McDonald’s. But they are ok with paprika or 🥒 majo

    14. I used to go to McDonalds to eat the seasonal special burgers and they were really nice. I’ve never thought of Hesburger being better, although I don’t have complaints.

Off topic, but americans that have visited finnish food chains, what is closest american chain for each?

I’ve never visited US, so I know absolutely nothing, only heard the names of some your chains, like Wendys and Applebees.

What does Rolls, and Hesburger resemble for example?

    16. Yae_Miko_HSR on

Idk, both are pretty sad (even if McD fries more so), I just go to Burger king

    17. Last-Assistant-2734 on

Hesburger has gone way downhill for years, though, unfortunately.

    18. My not so hot take, is that Hesburger has better basic burgers, but the special deluxe stuff that McD occasionally has is better. The soft chicken tortilla thing that Hesburger had this week was kinda disapointing

    19. You went to two restaurants and decided that one chain is better and the other one is worse? Trust me, Ive had bad burgers at Hesburger.

    20. As an American that’s been to Finland there’s at least 2 things going on here:

      1. McDonald’s mass produces TONS of shit and that can lead to lower product quality and other things like shrinkage when it comes to the size of the product.

      2. Hesburger uses different ingredients and recipes to make their burgers. The bun and patty parts of the sandwich certainly remain the same but there’s different toppings, sauces, and possibly, types of cheese. It’s like how American coke tastes different than European coke because we use high fructose corn syrup and you guys use either cane or beet sugar.

      3. In my experience, McDonald’s is also known worldwide whereas Hesburger’s only known in Europe. I can drive 5min. and find a McDonald’s but for Hesburger I need to take a plane just to get there.

    21. Robbed_Bert on

I haven’t tried McDonald’s in Finland yet, but I’ve had enough Hesburger to know it’s just as mid as any fast food burger place.

    22. Secure-Village-1768 on

Hesburger used to be pretty good before they made the meals smaller and more expensive 5-10 years ago

    23. Extreme-Poet-9170 on

Hesburgers quality was some years ago very inconsistent with burgers.

It is probably better nowadays but still wont go to Hese.

    24. Cpt_Morningwood on

I’m from Finland. Mickie D is better. Double Quarter Pounder with cheese is my favorite and you can’t have anything like in Hesburger.
