I feel the partner rate should be less, with divorces and break ups.
I never felt as lonely as in my 30s. Based on this chart, I have a dark future ahead of me. I’m basically hopeless.
The totals of each year do not add up to the same number.
What an interesting concept of family that doesn’t include one’s partner or children.
I find the friend increase at 55 to 75 very interesting. I see some folks my age (55) start doing everything they did at 30–before first kid. Empty nest and then retirement. Huge music social groups near me, but I am the young one.
Do people in their teens just have 15 hours a day? How is this chart even adding up?
your partner and alone time are the only things that persistently increase it seems.
The family one is so true, it’s really sad. Everyone in the family has moved out of hometown. 95% live out of state for work. Once every 4 years we do a big reunion with over 100 people. I see my mom once a year or try to, same with grandma. I see my in laws everyday because I live with them while we save up for a house, but when we move out we’ll be 20-40 minutes away and will probably see them every other week or even once a month. My brothers live a few hours away and I see them once a quarter. I lost my friend group because I’m hella autistic / can’t read the room. I spend most of the day alone. Work remotely. I just work on projects / code / tinker or lay in bed and decompress from being loaded on stimulants all day. I’m in my thirties. Plan to have a kid next year or year after. Person I spend most time with is my spouse. Sometimes it’s hard to spend time with her because we don’t share similar interests. Hell she barely wants to talk about my stuff because she doesn’t understand it at all.
Im 30 and im alone well over 8 hours a day. Weekends im alone 20-24 hours a day
I work remotely and am basically alone 24/7. I worry about loneliness metrics but I don’t feel lonely. I interact with coworkers every day over teams.
Averaging out the time is misleading especially later in life. Realistically most people will either spend the majority of time with their partner if they have one and alone if not. The split depicted here is probably very rare.
How does one get their partner to leave them alone so much?
30 year olds only spend 2hrs with their partner? I wonder if that’s averaging people with no partner and they just put 0 hrs in on the survey. Seems low.
As someone with young kids, the children line is depressing, i dont want them to grow up 😭
I’m jealous of these 40 year olds who get 4hr of alone time a day?! It must be very bimodal distribution for those with/without kids. I haven’t had more than 2 hours alone in…. Seems like years
