The key word here is temporary. If they are coming here under a temporary visa why are they expecting to stay permanently?

People come temporarily and don’t want to leave?

The longer people are without status, the worse their economic situation becomes.
Sonara said people should be aware that the Temporary Foreign Worker Program is just that: temporary.

“People should come here expecting it to be temporary,” he said.

I honestly believe that there should be a statement on work permits to be signed agreeing that it is temporary and they will leave when it expires, no appeals, no nonsense done. And then add in if you get charged and convicted with a crime who cares what it is, then your visa becomes invalid on the date of conviction. Done.

So what they’re saying is that people who work illegally off-the-record aren’t exactly making CEO pay? And that if you overstay your visa, accessing services is a bit more complicated? Oh wow.

You’d think that the „temporary“ part of temporary foreign worker would be a bit of a clue that they’re expected to leave again after finishing out their contracts.

There are a million issues with the program, although some are slowly being fixed. Workers being asked to leave at the end of it is not one of them.

    5. This is obviously a serious problem, but unfortunately people aren’t going to have sympathy because immigrants are considered subhuman.
