      Everything, every lie, should be aired so the public can see and hear them. The press isn’t helping the electorate by hiding his speeches. They are enabling the idea that everything is fine.

      The networks don’t get to act like hiding a PHENOMENALLY predictable speech 16 years too late is brave.

      Our President is a mutineer. More than half of the elected delegates are complicit. More than half of the biggest campaign donators are donating solely to stay out of jail. Traitors should be tried for treason, then drawn a quartered.

      OK… But… I watched it on NBC.

      In fact is explicitly had the TV on NBC in support because I heard they wouldn’t broadcast his BS… But then it came on. So now I’m mad at NBC for broadcasting his BS, and mad at him for wanting to cancel NBC for saying they wouldn’t broadcast the speech that I watched on their broadcast

      Our President said of ABC and NBC declining to air his speech: „Fraud like this should mean a revocation of their licenses. They use our public… airwaves for absolutely no money.“

      Two problems here.

      First, the „fraud“ he’s referring to is his claim that the 2020 election was stolen — a claim rejected in more than 60 court cases, by his own Attorney General, and by his own administration’s cybersecurity agency, which called it the most secure election in American history. He also claimed China obtained 220 million voter data files, offered with no evidence. So the predicate for revocation is itself false.

      Second — I work in spectrum policy, so let me explain why revocation isn’t a thing even if you granted the predicate.
      Yes, the airwaves belong to the public. 47 U.S.C. § 301 says spectrum is licensed, never owned. But that framework cuts exactly the opposite way:

      The FCC licenses individual stations, not networks. There is no „ABC license“ or „NBC license“ to revoke. Revoking „the network’s license“ isn’t even a well-formed regulatory action.
      No law requires any broadcaster to carry a presidential address. Section 315 (equal time) protects opposing candidates, and Section 312(a)(7) (reasonable access) covers candidates buying campaign ads. Neither creates a right to airtime for a sitting president. Networks of every era have declined addresses they judged political — under both parties.

      Section 326 of the Communications Act expressly forbids the FCC from censoring broadcasters or interfering with free speech. Revocation requires cause under Section 312 — things like fraud in a license application — not editorial decisions. The FCC itself has long said it won’t act on complaints about slanted or one-sided coverage, because substituting government judgment for journalistic judgment violates the First Amendment.

      „The spectrum belongs to the people“ is precisely the reason the government can’t punish broadcasters for content. The public-trustee model (Red Lion, 1969) justified narrow obligations like equal time — it has never permitted content-based license retaliation, and CBS v. DNC (1973) affirmed broadcasters‘ editorial discretion over what they carry.

      Whatever you think of the networks‘ decision, license revocation over it fails on the facts, the statute, the case law, and the Constitution. All four.

      I can’t stand what a stupid timeline we ended up in.
