Gelbes Taxi: NYC Taxi & Limousine Commission, Aggregierte Berichte – Monatliche Indikatoren. Heruntergeladen von https://www.nyc.gov/site/tlc/about/aggregated-reports.page. Der Datensatz gibt durchschnittliche tägliche Fahrten nach Monat und Führerscheinklasse an. Die jährlichen Gesamtwerte wurden berechnet, indem die durchschnittlichen täglichen Fahrten mit der Anzahl der Tage in jedem Monat multipliziert und dann die monatlichen Gesamtwerte summiert wurden.
Beispiel: Gelbes Taxi im Januar 2025 = 119.064 Fahrten/Tag × 31 Tage = 3.690.984 Fahrten.
Citi Bike: NYC Department of Transportation, Bike Share Usage Data Report Q1 2026. Heruntergeladen von https://www.nyc.gov/html/dot/html/bicyclists/bikestats.shtml. Der Bericht enthält genaue Fahrtzahlen pro Monat, Quartal und Jahr aus der Citi Bike-Programmdatenbank. Es werden nur Fahrten berücksichtigt, die länger als 60 Sekunden dauern und an öffentlich zugänglichen Bahnhöfen beginnen.
Hinweise: Nur gelbe Taxis (ausgenommen grüne Taxis und Uber/Lyft). Der COVID-19-Rückgang im Jahr 2020 traf Taxis stärker (-71 %) als Citi Bike (-5 %). Die Zahl der Taxifahrer hat sich teilweise erholt, liegt aber immer noch bei 28 % ihres Höchststands von 2012. Citi Bike wuchs jedes Jahr außer 2020, überholte 2024 die gelben Taxis und erreichte 2025 51,1 Millionen jährliche Fahrten.

I think you kinda need uber trips in this graph.

Uber is what has really hurt the taxis. Citi bike really only covers distances that people previously had been walking.
We shall call this effect
The „Cab Gap“
Scofflaw rideshare companies came into the city, operated illegally, paid no consequences for that, made billions, and drove many yellow cab owners who were dumb, poor, and brown enough to actually follow the law out of business. Sometimes to suicide.
I think that had a bigger impact on yellow cab numbers than CitiBike.
I would switch location of the labels for 2024 and 2025. Since Citi Bike is above taxi, their numbers should be above taxi in the graph as well.
I am going to use this to show kids how to promote a narrative by lying with real numbers.
Uber.

This analysis is such a miss that i have to imagine it was posted by a rideshare company. what’s the agenda here? why do this?
Everyone hates Taxis and the Taxi companies are absolute scum. Good.
