Ich versuche wirklich zu verstehen, ob das normal ist, denn das war eine der frustrierendsten Erfahrungen, die ich je mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln gemacht habe.
Ich kam um 7:41 Uhr mit dem Zug in Bratislava Hlavná stanica an. Sobald ich aus dem Zug stieg, kaufte ich um 7:42 Uhr ein Busticket in der App und wählte es zur Aktivierung für den 7:50-Bus aus, weil ich wusste, dass ich es erreichen würde. Das Ticket wurde automatisch um 7:50 Uhr aktiviert, genau wie vorgesehen.
Um 7:51 Uhr überprüfte ein Fahrkartenkontrolleur mein Ticket. Es war aktiv und vollständig gültig.
Er fing an, Slowakisch zu sprechen, was ich nicht verstehe. Ein freundlicher Passagier übersetzte, dass er meinte, ich hätte das Ticket vor dem Einsteigen kaufen sollen. Ich erklärte ihm, dass ich es direkt nach meiner Ankunft am Bahnhof gekauft hatte, 8 Minuten vor der Abfahrt des Busses, und zeigte ihm die Kaufhistorie in der App. Mein Ticket war gültig, als er es überprüfte.
Trotzdem forderte er mich auf, aus dem Bus auszusteigen und eine Strafe zu zahlen. Ich weigerte mich, weil ich wirklich davon überzeugt war, dass ich nichts falsch gemacht hatte. Daraufhin hat er mir ein Bußgeld ausgesprochen.
Was mich noch mehr schockierte, war, dass das Bußgeld mit der Zeit 7:43 vermerkt wurde.
Wie ist das überhaupt möglich?
● Mein Zug kam um 7:41 Uhr an.
● Ich habe das Busticket um 7:42 Uhr gekauft.
● Der Bus fuhr erst um 7:50 Uhr ab.
● Der Kontrolleur überprüfte um 7:51 Uhr mein gültiges Ticket.
● Die Geldbuße lautet jedoch 7:43.
Ich habe für alles Beweise:
● Mein Zugticket zeigt, dass ich um 7:41 Uhr angekommen bin.
● Mein Busticketkauf um 7:42 Uhr.
● Die Ticketaktivierung um 7:50 Uhr.
● Das Ticket blieb bis 8:20 Uhr gültig
Dem Bußgeldbescheid zufolge soll ich also sieben Minuten vor der Abfahrt des Busses vom Bahnhof ohne gültige Fahrkarte erwischt worden sein.
Als Ausländer hinterließ dies bei mir einen schrecklichen Eindruck. Ich habe nicht versucht, das Bezahlen zu vermeiden – ich habe mein Ticket gleich nach der Ankunft am Bahnhof und vor dem Einsteigen gekauft. Anstatt sich die Beweise anzusehen, ignorierte der Inspektor sie und verhängte ein Bußgeld mit einem Zeitstempel, der überhaupt keinen Sinn ergibt.
Hat jemand in Bratislava etwas Ähnliches erlebt? Gibt es ein Berufungsverfahren und hat jemand erfolgreich eine Geldbuße aufheben lassen?
Zu diesem Zeitpunkt scheint es, als hätte der Inspektor entweder nicht verstanden, wie die App funktioniert, oder er hatte einfach keine Lust, sich die Beweise anzusehen.

Because your ticket was valid from 07:50, however you were travelling at 07:42.
Sounds like you got abused. The fine looks illegitimate and you just paid foreigner tax.
The inspectors receive low base pay and get commission based on the amount they fine per month, so they often try to get as many fines as possible and it’s hard to talk them out of them since they line their pockets.
If you’re pissed off enough, complain to the public transport company, you might get a refund. I have no idea how likely that is though, maybe others can help quantifying the chances.
It is not common, from what i am seeing everything seems alright. But i don’t know detail what exactly happened in the bus. Nevertheless you should write them on [info@dpb.sk](mailto:info@dpb.sk) and explain situation, if everything is alright they will refund you. Inspector may have been just idiot and did not understand, or i don’t know why. But it is not happening often

This is a weird case.
You’ll have to personally go to DPB (Olejkárska street for example) to appeal.
You might have a problem with the fine saying 7:43. What was the official departure time for the bus? If the bus departure on the timetable is 7:50 you should have no problem to appeal. If the bus was running late and the fine says 7:43 it might be a problem. I would ask to check the bus camera feed to prove it was 7:51 and not 7:43

I am 99% sure that guy was an asshole, It is perfectly normal to buy tickets even when you enter the bus. I don’t know how It’s done in Bratislava, but inspectors often get paid for issuing fines, a normal inspector would use some common sense, and decide that you probably haven’t bought the ticket just as he was walking up to you. The time is just wrong, probably to make sure you can’t return the fine. when did you enter the bus and what bus was it exactly? how did you decide to activate the ticket for 7:50? was that supposed to be the scheduled departure?
The previous #40 bus (the one before the one you claim to have taken) departs from the train station exactly at 7:43.
You are saying that you have proof of everything, but actually haven’t shown us any proof whether you took the 7:43 bus (which matches the time on the fine) or the 7:50 bus. If you took the earlier one, the fine would have been correct because your ticket wasn’t valid yet.
Purely from what we can see in your screenshots:
* it’s possible that the ticket inspector was confused and thought he’s on an earlier bus
* it’s possible that the ticket inspector just wanted to fine you incorrectly because you’re a foreigner
* but it’s also possible that you took the earlier bus by mistake.
Either way, your best bet to get rid of the fine is to explain what happened via an official channel. Either take somebody who speaks Slovak with you to the office of the public transport company (Olejkárska 1), or contact them in writing / by email. And obviously, if you can somehow prove the actual time when you were fined, include that evidence in your request.
Did the inspector scanned the ticket somehow? If yes, it is possible DPB has exact time of the QR code scan.

ticket inspectors here are powertripping troglodytes and will come up with any bullshit reason to fine you even if you did nothing wrong.
Your fine certificate clearly does not appear to be in alignment with you story. So either, you boarded earlier bus with purchased ticket with later activation (from 7:50) – meaning you didn’t have valid ticket at the time of travel. Or you did everything correctly and have been scammed by the inspector, taking advantage of you being the foreigner. If its second scenario, you should be able to support your story by bus camera recordings – proving the time of boarding and the fine granted. Unfortunately, I believe that it is required to appeal in written form against this at their HQ and then there is some period for them to verify. As the process is in Slovak and not exactly straighforward, most of the foreigners move on instead of disputing the fine. To give you an advice for next time if you will ever visit again, if you believe that you didn’t breach any rule, it’s better not to give in to pay the fine and be ready to argue.
Well, this seems bit unlikely. According to schedule, there is another 40 bus leaving the station at 7:43, are you sure you didn’t take that one? Did you actually wait at the bus stop for several minutes, or did you catch the bus straight as you exited the station? (yeah your post claims the ticket inspection was at 7:51, but it’s hard to see whether that’s not just AI you’re using embellishing things).
If this is true, then it should be easy to resolve, as far as I know times of ticket inspections are automatically logged when the inspectors block the validators in the bus. So you should write to the public transport company. Also FYI, you don’t need to pay the fine immediately at the spot, you can always just let them record your info and pay it later.
so you state the inspector checked at 07:51, but the inspector wrote 07:43. I guess your only chance is to go at dpb or write them and they can check the recordings from bus and confirm when exactly have you boarded the bus.
When you are buying ticket you can set it to be valid immediatelly or later. You must have explicitly set start at 7:50.
Do you remember the registration number of the trolleybus you took? I mean the number in format 67xx.
Officially you cant enter bus before your ticket is active. So if enter at 7:49 and ticket activates at 7:50 you are already in wrong. It is kind of dumb to be honest but entering even ar 7:49:55 means you broke the rules.

Well, it happened to me. I bought a ticket inside the bus with my card and two minutes later the inspector came and said I didn’t. Somehow they could only see my previous ticket on their machine. Had to leave the bus with everyone staring at me and paid the 79€ fine. Sent them an email and three months later they said that I had the ticket and it was a mistake, so they refunded me.
I got fined because the bus arrived one minute earlier than it was supposed to, and my ticket was issued at the exact time the bus was scheduled to depart. I contacted their customer support, sent them screenshots and all the relevant information, and also filed a complaint about the ticket inspector.
In the meantime, I paid the fine because the deadline for paying the reduced amount was about to expire.
A month later, they replied that they had investigated the case and would refund the money I had paid for the fine.
If you have strong evidence that you are in the right, you should definitely pursue it and contact them.
If you didn’t give him your ID then just don’t pay the fine, fuck are they gonna do
