Well this is new to me…I wonder though…what else has FF/FG cooked up for this country?

This is ridiculous. the law allows a country that is committing a genocide to fund the genocide by using Ireland as home country for bond? And the governers response is, ‚it’s bizarre‘? Additionally, the governer states ‚genocide‘ is a legal term and it is for the courts to decide whether genocide is happening. It is de facto happening, according to genocide scholars, and we are complicit, while hiding behind a paper shield that isreal hasn’t been found guilty in court of genocide.

We should all be asking how Mr Makhlouf secured his position to begin with. He was seemingly the only nominee for the position put forward, has had his own controversies in New Zealand, the ECB asked our government **why** are they choosing him as he’s a british citizen, and not an economist to begin with.
The man is leaning on the courts to come to the conclusion that what’s happened in Gaza is a genocide, when the UN themselves have said it’s a [genocide](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c0jy96w6pw2o).

As far as I’m aware, Israel can ask any central bank in the EU to certify their bonds for sale within the EU. That central bank then has a legal responsibility to certify, if there is no legal reason not to.
The ICB did not seek this business, but cannot refuse it. A cynic might think that Israel did this deliberately.

Confiscat the bonds and hold them as reparations for Gaza.
